So before I get into the the legitimacy of Swagbucks, for those who don’t know what Swagbucks is I just wanted to set the scene so that you’ll have an idea of what I’m talking about.
What is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is basically a reward program where users get paid in virtual credits or currency to participate in online activities such as playing games, watching videos, completing surveys or simply performing searches using the Swagbucks search engine.
So that’s cool I’m down with that.
I mean, I’m into watching videos, playing games and I search the Internet all day long, what’s not to like – right?
Oh yes – yeah you knew that was coming, it may not be what you expect, as you’ll soon understand.
But first, the age old question that everyone wants to know.
Is Swagbucks Legit – And do they pay out?
Actually, (surprize surprize) it turns out that Swagbucks is a legitimate way to make money online and yes – they do pay out.
The way it works is that you pick an activity to participate in, and as a result of say playing games, watching videos, completing surveys or searching the web you accrue Swagbucks.
How many Swagbucks you get for each activity is unknown, but I understand that it is based on the a percentage of the commission the company receives from getting visitors to those activities.
Let’s take an example – watching videos.
You select a video and just watch it – no brainer.
Ummm yeah, so it’s NOT like Youtube, so you ain’t gonna see funny cats, or Johnny bit my finger videos, or the best Vine videos 2014, and that’s mostly because it’s designed to for advertisers. It’s a way for advertisers to get people watching their clips.
The advertizers pay Swagbucks for getting visitors to their clips and in return the company pays you in Swag currency.
So what about Games?
As you can see the games aren’t the high graphic action packed games your teenager would play, it’s more flash type games, but it’s just another way to accrue points.
So how do you get paid?
So as your Swagbucks accummulate you can redeem them for giftcards.
The gift cards include Amazon, Target, Walmart, Starbucks, iTunes and the list goes on and on, but there are also paypal cards, where you can redeem Swagbucks for real cash.
As you can see the point system is not a one-to-one exchange, meaning you’ll have to make between 90 – 100 Swagbucks to generate $1 in giftcards.
And with there being no way to figure out what activities generate the most points you really have to just play around with it.
I did however find 4 top ways for you to earn with Swagbucks.
4 top ways to earn Swagbucks
- The Swagbucks toolbar.
- Use Swagbucks for searching the web.
- Referring friends
- Reading the Swagbucks blog and twitter trivia.
Honestly, there are probably more, but those are the 4 that most people mention.
So here’s the deal with Swagbucks.
Yes, you can make money with it, and it is an easy way to generate a little money, but it’s not the kind of income generator that is going to pay the household bills or say have you quit your day time job.
If you want to make an extra $20 bucks a month then this might be a fun little program to get involved with – but just know that you’re not gonna make the big bucks.
Having said that, if you are making big bucks from Swagbucks on a consistent basis, then I’d love to hear from you, just leave me a comment below.
