When I was a child I remember my parents being invited to a home presentation where the spokes person would demonstrate a collection of wonderful house cleaning products.
As a child I thought that these products were kinda magical, because you only had to use a tiny bit of it, and they would last forever. So she said …
But not only that, you could also make money from recommending them to your family and friends, and if they decided to buy the products, you would make money from the ones you sold.
Yep, hosting you’re own home demonstrations seemed like a brilliant way to help your family and friends and make money at the same time.
Even though I was a young boy … I could see the value in being involved in a business like this.
Amyway has branched out into offering many other products since then, but the underlying business model remains the same.
Maybe you were invited to a home party, or been contacted recently by a family member, friend or colleague, which has lead you to find out more about the business.
If you have, then I’m sure that you’re gonna find this detailed analysis of Amway interesting at the very least.
Hopefully, you’ll leave with enough information to make an informed decision on whether Amyway is a suitable way for you to make money.

Amway is an U.S. MLM company founded by Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos, in 1959.
The company mostly sells health, beauty and homecare products…among others.
The company is based in Ada, Michigan and the family of companies in which Amway falls under reported sales of $9.5 billion in 2015.
Those kinds of numbers usually mean good things for a company but unfortunately 2015 was the second year straight that they dropped in total sales.
Here is a quick list of countries that Amway has expanded into over the years:
- Australia in 1971
- Europe in 1973
- Asia in 1974
- Japan in 1979
- Latin America in 1985
- Thailand in 1987
- China in 1995
- Africa in 1997
- India and Scandinavia in 1998
- Ukraine in 2003
- Russia in 2005
- Vietnam in 2008
What’s not to like? Tons of product, worldwide name recognition…
We will now take a look at the compensation plan to see if all of these pluses translate into money.

Plan To Get Paid…Or Not
The very first picture on Amway’s “Start a Business” tab is admittedly appealing. The header is “We Are Our Own Bosses.”
Who wouldn’t love to be their own boss. In fact, that is one of the main reason MLM’ers exist…right?
However, look at the three claims at the bottom of the same picture.
- Exclusive Products: The exclusive products are a good bit. This could give you an advantage over other products. I have a feeling that this advantage will not translate into significant funds, unless you are a Consultant for a long period of time.
- Low Start Up Costs: Many MLM’s claim to have low start up costs, but in this case, the Amway starter kit is $99. There is also a registration fee of $62, can be annoying to some.
- 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.
To be perfectly honest, any company that claims 100% guaranteed is delusional; it is impossible.
Especially since enough people were not satisfied that Amway was part of an investigation. These two facts seem to complicate things.
Let’s see how many ways you can make money with Amway.
3 Ways To Make Money
- Retail Margin: This money comes from product you sell.
- Bonuses: These bonuses are based on your personal performance and the performance of your team.
- Growth Incentives: With more sponsor, the bigger your team can be.
This sounds amazing right? And it is, because this is exactly what you want to see with MLMs; the more ways to make money, the better.
Here is where Amway loses me though. If you try to “Learn More” about the payout plan, you get sent to the following page…
Sigh…why do I have to create an account with Amway before I even make a decision?…
…before I have all the information needed.
Amway Starter Kit
Here is a list of things you get with your starter kit:
- $245 value of products that you can try for yourself and share with potential clients.
- Great introduction tips to help you engage potential consultants, i.e. Sample Bags
- 10 mini catalogs with product and business information
This is not a bad start, especially for a starter kit. There are a few more services you get after purchasing the starter kit.
- In-class training materials
- Quality brands
- Marketing support
Ok, great, but all of these bells and whistles will not translate into sales unless you know how to generate sponsors and customers on a daily basis.
And this is always the case with network marketing companies.
On one hand you have to sell the products, but you’ll never earn the kind of money that offers you a full-time income unless you put your focus on creating a down-line, because that’s where the money is at.
On the other hand, if you already have this particular set of skills, this MLM could work out in your favor, but potentially you could earn a lot more with other MLM programs.

The Positives Of Amway
The first positive is a double edged sword. In the hands of right people, this compensation plan can make you a lot of money.
Seriously, Amway has been around for a long time and it is a household name around the world.
The challenge is trying to find a dedicated team so that you can earn your residual income and bonuses.
The strong compensation plan is complimented by low start up costs and a decent training plan.
I know what you are going to say next…When can I start making money with Amway?
Before you jump the gun, let’s take a look at the negatives.
The Negatives Of Amway
Throughout this guide I have emphasized the difficulty people have finding sponsors.
Another drawback to Amway is the overpriced products. This means that the sponsors you find also have to overlook products that can be 15% more expensive than their competitors.
Here is where Amway gets tricky…they say that the quality of the product is the reason for the price hikes.
My rebuttal to Amway’s quality explanation is this…
Every single company in the world brags about the quality of their products.
Literally, every single one…
And they are cheaper than your products…what makes me want to trust Amway more than other big named companies?
One other thing that I have to briefly touch upon is the simple fact that you have to find sponsors from your online operation and also outside sources.
This means that no matter where you go, you have to be in sponsor mode.
It has a door to door sales(wo)man feel to it that is a complete turnoff.
And honestly, once you’ve tapped your friends, family and colleague for dough to buy the products, you’re gonna have to start cold calling in some shape or form, unless you know how to generate enough leads on a daily basis.

The Final Verdict
After an in-depth analysis of the compensation plan and consumer reviews, it is pretty clear that Amway is not a pyramid scheme.
However, Amway has been subject to a criminal investigation before and this is something that you don’t want on your resume.
Another telltale sign that Amway is not a scam is the fact that there are products involved.
No matter how overpriced they are…
Here is the real issue with Amway’s MLM; you have to be a sponsoring beast if you want to come close to your income goals…
This issue is intensified by the simple fact that most MLM’ers have no idea how to generate consistent lead on a daily basis.
I’m serious the statistics on this are mind boggling.
The key to any MLM is being able to sponsor enough people into your down-line to meet your income goals.
If you know how to do this, then you can virtually join any MLM program and make money.
You can learn how to do that with my #1 recommended training program.
