Leadership: Ms. Corin Cashman, General Manager
Welcome to my 3rd party review of BeFrugal .com!
I am really happy that you found my review.
This means you are willing to do research before you jump into an online business opportunity.
This review will be slightly different than my normal MLM review but I am always willing to change things up a bit.
In this review I will be covering a lot of material mostly based from the BeFrugal website and, of course, the Better Business Bureau’s database.
I will start out by providing a background check on the company including contact information, milestones and what the company actually does.
Then I will go over the Better Business Bureau page to cover all of the positives and negatives that customers share with us in the review and complaint sections.
This is probably the most important section of the review because anecdotal evidence is paramount.
Before we get the review underway, I would like to point out that I have no affiliation with BeFrugal so there isn’t a conflict of interest.
Also, BeFrugal is very similar to Ebates.com, so you can check that out too, for comparison purposes.
Let’s get the show on the road.
BeFrugal Overview – What is the Company?
According to the BBB, Ms. Corin Cashman is the General Manager of BeFrugal.
The company started in 2009 and is headquartered out of Boston, Mass.
Capital Intellect Inc.
P.O. Box 51607
Boston, MA 02205
BeFrugal provides people with coupons and deals for at least 50K popular stores and all of the biggest 500 online stores in the USA.
This is great considering there are no signup fees so you can enjoy these discounts for free.
They also offer email and live chat systems for customer service which gives customers more than one option when they have questions or concerns.
I will point out a few milestones for BeFrugal but you can check out the entire list, HERE.
• Adds Printable Grocery, Retail & Restaurant Coupons
• Introduces Weekly Ads to help boost Local Savings
• Adds Electric Car Calculator when purchasing a Hybrid Vehicle
• Cash Back is added to BeFrugal
One last thing to note, Jon Lal is the CEO and Founder of Befrugal.
The image below shows Lal’s prior experience.
The BeFrugal Website
This section will be shorter than normal because the site is legit and really easy to use.
BeFrugal claims to be the #1 Site for Cash Back & Coupons. It is also 100% free to join.
There is one thing I don’t necessarily agree with in the image below.
The “Easy as 1-2-3” is that easy but isn’t there usually a catch to things like this?
Especially with a free sign up!
For example, this particular customer is saying it is not as easy as 1-2-3.
In fact, the customer is complaining about several aspects of the business model and even wondering why the BBB rating is not bad.
There are 73 complaints and reviews on the BBB page and 80% of them are negative.
I will post more complaints for you in the BBB section of the review along with some positive feedback for objectivity purposes.
Ok, it is safe to say that the BeFrugal website confirms that this company is not a scam.
It is also safe to say that some customers are not finding it as easy as it is claimed to be.
Let’s take a look at how cash back works and what the Refer-a-Friend program works.
Cash Back and Refer-a-Friend Program
Once you find a coupon or deal that you want to use, you simply click on it and complete your purchase.
You get a certain percentage of the purchase via cash back.
You can have the cash via check PayPal or Amazon gift card.
The website claims that you can get up to 40% cash back which means each purchase is different.
This program is aimed toward generating more sales for BeFrugal and the stores they are affiliated with.
It is also geared toward giving you $15 while your referrals make $10.
This is not a bad bonus but I’m not big fan of how you can recruit others to the program.
Here are the ways your referrals are tracked:
• Share Your Unique Link
• Social Media
• Email Friends
• Post a Banner of Your Site
This is very similar to the tactics MLMs use and I’m not a big fan of MLMs.
Now that you have seen how these two programs work, let’s take a look at another.
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
This section is going to be a bit longer than usual because there are some issues that have to be discussed.
I would like to get the obvious out of the way before we get to the nitty gritty.
This is great news because any company that has a perfect grade, A+, should be taken seriously.
The only issue I have is the fact that 80% of the people commenting are negative.
There is no way that a company can be perfect, but that kind of ratio can shed some light on the darker side of things.
This comment is filled to brim with negative comments.
I will break it down the best I can.
There are complaints like this throughout the list of comments but to not reward cash back when that is the premise of your entire business, is a horrible way to do business.
This means that BeFrugal is promising larger cash back percentages but not holding up to their end of the bargain.
I don’t think using the terms and agreements as an excuse of not proving cash back is a little awkward to say the lease.
This comment is similar to the first but it goes a bit further.
“Kevin C.” labels BeFrugal as the worst site of all time.
To make matters worse, Kevin calls out the customer service department for their inability to take care of customer related issues.
The last part of the comment says that other cash back companies are better in every way.
In case you didn’t realize this, the person leaving a comment is a BBB Verified Reviewer.
This final comment is to show you the consistency that BeFrugal is failing to hold up to their end of the bargain.
This is alarming and I think it is now time to ask them a few questions.
• Why are so many complaints about your inability to pay cash back?
• Why do you claim to be the #1 site when you have so many ethical issues going on with your company?
• What do you plan on doing to rectify the situation?
• How do you still have an A+ grade with BBB?
I know these questions will probably never be answered but they are important to ask anyway.
The more research I do on this company, the more I realize it is a “too good to be true” business.
The Final Verdict
Although I cannot call BeFrugal a flat out scam, there are some concerning issues that need to be addressed by the leadership team.
It is impossible for me to recommend this company to anyone because you have a 50/50 chance of getting your rewards.
I am a little worried about the future of the company as well considering all of the problems that their members face.
At any rate, I have been tough on BeFrugal but for good reason.
There is no excuse for this kind of behavior.
Besides, if you wanted a better cash back opportunity, you should try about Ebates.
They have a much better reputation and you stand a better chance at getting your rewards.
If you want to check out either company, try out the BBB database and find out which one fits your needs the best.
You can’t go wrong using the BBB site because they have tons of valuable information in it.
Either way, if cash back programs are not for you, then you should think about making your own business.
This is something I ask a lot of people because the sky is the limit.
If you want to work online and from home, then this is the way to go.
If you have no idea how to get started, then I suggest a training program.
You can watch a free tutorial on YouTube; there are thousands to choose from.
If you are looking for an example, check out this review.
They have an outstanding track record and have helped thousands of people just like you.
I hope this review helped you in some way, shape or form.
