Today there are a lot of opportunities available online to make money. There’s answering surveys, completing tasks, watching videos, writing articles, doing research, and so on. If you are looking for ways to make money online, you will definitely find an opportunity for you.
However, not all of these opportunities are legitimate or worth your time and effort. There are a lot of opportunities out there that will turn out to be a scam and won’t pay you anything, or the amount you can earn is so minimal it’s not worth it .
To help you avoid the opportunities that are scams or a waste of time, we test them out and recommend the ones that are worthwhile for you to give a try.
In this review, we’ll be discussing a site called PeoplePerHour where you can make money doing various freelance jobs.
The amount of money you can make here will depend on the kind of job you will do since the pay is dependent on that.
But is PeoplePerHour really a legitimate opportunity to make money online or is it just a scam or a waste of time?

PeoplePerHour is a Legit Opportunity To Make Money
PeoplePerHour is a freelance website which allows businesses, individuals, and organizations to hire freelancers for various jobs.
Founded in 2007, the site is available in a lot of countries around the world, offering people an opportunity to work from home as a freelancer.
The amount of money you can earn will depend on the kind of freelancing job you will get. From what I’ve seen so far, I can say that this opportunity is legitimate.
The site does provide you with an opportunity to make money as a freelancer. Clients will place freelance jobs on the site and you can bid on them.
You can also advertise your skills and expertise to allow the clients to see what you’re good at.
There are, however, some issues with this opportunity and biggest among them is that you only have limited free bids available per month.
You also have to pay the handling fee that PeoplePerHour charges when you get paid for your completed work. There are also complaints with the site’s customer support from both client and freelancer.
I’ll discuss these issues in more detail as we progress further in this review of this freelance website.
Who Uses PeoplePerHour?
The PeoplePerHour website is designed for two groups of people with one being businesses, organizations, and individuals that are looking to hire freelancers.
The other group are people who are looking for opportunities to make some money online. For businesses and individuals, the site can help them outsource certain tasks to freelancers.
They just need to post the job that they need to be done and freelancers can bid on that project. They can also check the available freelancers, what they are good at, and their hourly rates. A deposit will just need to be put in an escrow account to start advertising jobs.
For freelancers, PeoplePerHour provides an opportunity to make money doing various jobs.
As a freelancer, you will be able to bid on projects and also advertise the skills and expertise you have, as well as your hourly rate.
The amount of money you get will depend on the project you will be a part of. Becoming a member is simple and you don’t have to worry about paying any money to join.
I’ll discuss the registration process in the next section, as well as how you can make money with PeoplePerHour.
How Do You Make Money with PeoplePerHour?
PeoplePerHour provides only one way for you to make money and that is by becoming a freelancer and bidding on the available freelance jobs that site has.
The amount of money you can earn will depend on the project that you will be a part of. To start earning, you first need to register on the website.
This is simple and free to do so. You can sign up by providing your personal details, or through your Facebook account.
After registering, the next step is to create your profile and portfolio on the site. It is important that you complete this part since this is what potential clients will be looking at.
Your portfolio will include a headshot pic, job title, an about me section, and any keyword-based skills that you have, for example, typing speed.
You can also upload some samples of your work for clients to look at and what your expected hourly rate will be.
Your profile will also list your ratings and reviews after completing the freelance jobs. So it is important that you ask for one, especially if the client is happy with the work you did.
After completing your portfolio, you can wait for clients to invite you to be a freelancer or you can view the different freelancing jobs available in PeoplePerHour.
Clients will post the freelancing jobs that they have, what you will do and the requirements they need. You can bid for the jobs that are posted on the site.
It is important that you use your bids wisely because you are only given 15 free bids a month. If you use it all up, you will need to purchase more bids or wait for a month to replenish your free bids.
The site has a wide variety of jobs you can choose from and these jobs are broken down into the following categories:
- Development and IT
- Marketing and SEO
- Social Media
- Translation and Tutorials
- Video, Photo, and Audio
After bidding for a job, clients will usually send a response if they like your profile. From there, you can work out the details of the job and when you can start.
It is important that you possess the necessary skills and have some experience of the job you are bidding for.
After completing the job, remember to ask for a rating and review, especially if you did a good job. These will appear in your profile.
It’s hard to gauge the amount of money you can make from this site since this will greatly depend on the job you are bidding for.
You can be part of a full-time or part-time project, you can also get a project that lasts for a month or two or a project that will actually employ you to be their freelancer.
The money will really depend on the project and on your negotiation with the client. As for the payment, PeoplePerHour allows you to withdraw your money in USD, EUR, or GBP.
You can withdraw it via PayPal, UK Bank Transfer, Non-UK Bank Transfer, US Bank Transfer, Payoneer, and Skrill.
It is important to note that there will be a 20% handling fee when you first reach $600. After that, the handling will be 5%.
As mentioned above, there are certain issues with PeoplePerHour and biggest among them is the limited bids you given. Though 15 should probably be enough, it becomes a problem if you are unlucky getting your bids accepted.
This is like applying for a job, you are not the only freelancer on the site so there will be times when a job will have hundreds of proposals from freelancers. It is very possible to use up all your bids and still not land a gig.
If this happens, either you wait the following month or spend money to purchase more bids. Another issue with PeoplePerHour is that there is a handling fee that you will need to pay.
Using the site is actually not free, but they will not require you to pay any monthly fee for using their services. What they will do is to charge a handling fee every time you are paid.
The fee will start at 20%, but it will be 5% after that. So you might want to consider this when signing up with this opportunity.
There have also been complaints about PeoplePerHour’s customer service from both freelancers and clients. They complained that the site’s customer service is poor, especially when it comes to handling issues. They will usually have a generic response and not try to address the issue and solve the problem.
What I Like about PeoplePerHour
Now that we know what PeoplePerHour is and what they are offering, it’s time to discuss what I like about this opportunity.
- The first thing that I like about PeoplePerHour is that they have payment protection for freelancers. It’s really not uncommon for clients to not pay freelancers their money after getting the work. So the site protects you by requiring clients to deposit the money that the work will cost in an escrow account. It will be released once the work is completed. So you are assured you will get your money
- Another thing that I like about PeoplePerHour is that there are a variety of jobs available to choose from. You can be a writer, a virtual assistant, a graphic designer, and so on. You just need to choose the kind of job that not only suits your skillset but also something that you like doing.
- I also like that the opportunity PeoplePerHour offers is really flexible. Granted the schedule of work will depend on the job that you will get, but you have the freedom to choose the job that you want. You are not required to complete a certain number of jobs in a month. You just need to choose the job that you want that will also fit your schedule.
What I Didn’t Like about PeoplePerHour
As appealing as this all sounds, there are also things about PeoplePerHour that I didn’t really like, which I’ll discuss here.
- The first thing that I didn’t like about PeoplePerHour is that you only get limited free bids in a month. The site only provides you with 15 bids, which means you can only bid on jobs or projects 15 times in a month. If you want to bid more, you either wait for the following month or you purchase more bids.
- I also don’t like that PeoplePerHour charges a handler’s fee for using the site’s services. You can expect to pay at least 5% of your earnings when you make a withdrawal. It’s good that they only charge you after you make money, but it’s disappointing that it is necessary.
- I also don’t like that both clients and freelancers are not happy with PeoplePerHour’s customer service. It appears that the site’s customer service doesn’t help resolve any issues. Most of the complainants say they only get a scripted response from the site that doesn’t help them.
Do I Recommend PeoplePerHour?
After learning more about PeoplePerHour and what it can bring to the table, I can say that it is an opportunity that is worth checking out.
The site offers a good opportunity for you to make some money online. And if you get lucky with the job or project that you bid on and get accepted, you could even find a long-term work from home gig with this site.
You just have to contend with the limited bids available and the handler’s fee you need to pay whenever you make a withdrawal.
Other than that, the site is worth trying out. Just make sure that you possess the necessary skill set to complete the job that you are bidding for.
Remember it’s important you do well since clients can rate you and provide feedback for the work you did. As for the money you can make, that will greatly depend on the job or project that you will get.
The site has no fixed rate as to how much clients should pay. Good thing you have the flexibility to choose only the project you want to apply for.
