Remotasks Review – Remotasks is a website where people can make money online completing small tasks for clients. These workers are usually referred to as micro workers or in this case – Taskers.
In order to make money with Remotasks you have to choose a category to work in. Each category has an exam that you have to pass in order to gain access to the micro jobs in that category.
If you pass the exam, the category will be unlocked and you will be able to select a micro job to complete. The more categories you unlock the more opportunity you have to complete tasks.
Some of the jobs are small and easy to complete, like drawing a box around a car, or being able to moderate a forum, or to identify spam, etc.
The amount of money you earn is dependent on how many tasks you complete, the difficulty of the task and the access you have to certain categories.
The amount of money you earn might be a little disappointing though, as I discuss further in this review.

What is Remotasks?
Remotasks is owned by Scale Labs Inc, and is a platform where micro workers can earn money by completing small tasks for clients.
The opportunity is available worldwide and the only requirement to work for the company is that you are fluent in English.
Who uses Remotasks?
There are two groups of people who use Remotasks.
The first group are the companies who commission the tasks to be done. It would cost them a lot more money to hire someone full-time or even on a part-time basis to complete these tasks.
Moreover, some businesses only have a small block of work to be completed, which means that even a part-time employee would be too expensive.
The second group of people are the micro workers who want to earn money completing these tasks.
How To Join Remotasks
Signing up with Remotasks is a fairly easy process, but it does require you to have a Facebook account.
Once you get to the sign up page, just click on the “Sign Up With Facebook” blue button and click the terms of service box and you can start the process.
You will have to enter both the country where you reside and a phone number with SMS capabilities.
You will be sent a 6 digit verification code, which will be sent to your phone via SMS
How Does Remotasks Work?
In order to be eligible to work on certain tasks, you will first have to pass a series of exams. I assume that these exams are in place to ensure you have the right skills needed to perform each of the tasks.
Each exam that you pass unlocks your access to the tasks in the categories that you can make money from.
For example, you can find tasks relating to drawing boxes around cars, moderating content, identifying spam, and categorizing T-shirts as shown in the picture below.
To gain access to the exams, go to your dashboard and click on the exam link.
Obviously, some tasks will be more suited for you than other tasks depending on your current skills level. However, most tasks are fairly easy and with a little bit of effort could be learned before taking the exam.
The more exams you pass, the more categories you unlock, which means you will have more access to jobs. The more jobs you successfully complete the more potential income you make.
If you ever get stuck with tasks or just want to ask a simple question, Remotasks have an online community of experienced taskers, which also include Remotasks admin, who can answer any questions you may have.
How Do You Make Money With Remotasks?
There are a wide variety of different tasks you can do on this site.
Once you have passed the exam for a category you will gain access to the jobs in that category. If by chance you don’t pass the exam on your first try, then you do have 3 more opportunities to try again.
However, if you fail those, then you will be locked out of the category permanently.
So, once you have access to a category, the quality of your work is of high importance, and although a few mistakes here and there is acceptable, too many mistakes could mean you are locked out of a category permanently.
So, it’s important to take care when completing tasks for clients.
The amount of money you can make from Remotasks depends on a number of variables, including the level of difficulty needed to complete a task and the tasks you have access to.
However, in general, you can make between $1.50 to $3 per hour, so not a great hourly rate, but again, is depends on how many tasks you complete and the level of difficulty.
It is possible to earn between $30 – $50 per month, which means you would be working close to 10 to 17 hours per month on the site, which is around 2.5 to 4 hours per week.
Remotasks recommend you work 20 hours per week and have a laptop or PC with at least 4 GB of RAM.
What Payment Method Does Remotasks Use?
The company currently only pays out workers via Paypal, so it’s crucial that you have access to a Paypal account in order to work for the company.
They do not have a minimum payout amount, but instead will payout the full balance from your Remotasks account to your Paypal account, every Friday.
NOTE: They will also deduct a 2% processing fee from your balance.
What Are Others Saying About Remotasks?
A running theme I have seen on the Internet is the lack of tasks in a given category.
This stands to reason, given tasks are driven by the need of a client. If a clients needs are satisfied then you will run out of tasks.
However, some clients will have on going requirements, which means that there would be a consistent flow of tasks for you to complete.
Also, keep in mind that these tasks are shared between a pool of workers, who like you, are competing for the same tasks.
The solution here, would be to get into more categories that others don’t, easily, have access to. Obviously, you will have to pass the exam to gain access yourself, but these categories would probably have less competing workers and as a result pay a higher rate.
What I Like about Remotasks
- I like the fact that there is no minimum payout limit.
- I like that they use Paypal as their payment method, as it is widely used and a trusted way to get paid.
- I like that you could get paid weekly regardless of how much you have in your account.
- I like that you do have more than one try to pass an exam from a category.
- I like the fact that you can work from the comfort of your own home.
What I Don’t Like about Remotasks
- I don’t like the 2% processing fee that is deducted from your earnings when redeeming your funds.
- In general the pay rate is far too low.
- You could get banned if you are too slow or there are too many inaccuracies.
Do I Recommend Remotasks?
Remotasks is a legit website where people can make money completing small micro tasks for clients.
I feel that Remotasks could be a good way for some people to earn money, especially if they can access some of the more specialized categories, because, there will be less competing micro workers for the same tasks, and the tasks could pay a much higher rate.
Since you do get 3 tries before you’re locked out of a category, it only makes sense to try your hand at accessing categories that could pay more.
Remotasks seems like a reasonable way for people to make money online, but not at $1.50 to $3 per hour. This rate might be okay for people who live in countries where the cost of living isn’t as high as the United States, like India or maybe the Philippines where the exchange rate is much higher.
If you live in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia or New Zealand then suffice to say this rate just wouldn’t work, and it is for those reasons that I wouldn’t recommend this as a good way for you to make money.
There are, however, much better ways for you to earn money from home. I recommend you read this review.
As always, if you’ve had experience with Remotasks I would love to get your feedback, good or bad. Please leave a message in the comment section below.
Thanks for reading.
