If you haven’t got a blog, then here are a few steps to take to start you very own WordPress blog here.
A lot of people get stuck when it comes to creating content that ranks high in the search engines.
And well, this article will hopefully address those concerns and give you a framework that you can use to make your content worthy of being on the front-page of Google.
So I haven’t updated this blog for a little while now and it’s because I have been working on other projects, however, this is a subject that I get a lot of questions on, and one that I struggled to come to grips with myself when I started out.
I also wanted to cover this topic because content creation is gonna be one of those things that you will have to master if you are going to make money online.
As the saying goes, money makes the world go around, well on the Internet “content” makes the money go around.
Now whether you create the content yourself or hire someone else to do it for you doesn’t really matter, just so long as you create content that drives traffic to your website or offer.
But, how do you go about writing content that Google will love and that is worthy of being on the frontpage of Google.
Well, in my qwerky way of thinking there’s two schools of thought at play here.
1) Google’s school of thought
Google wants you to write engaging compelling content that is share worthy and as a result of this “sharing”, your content magically rises in the search engines … and in theory I am a big subscriber of this school of thought, HOWEVER, don’t be surprized if the top positions in Google are occupied by average content.
Just saying …
I see it all the time … and I’m actually guilty of producing sub-par content myself that ranks on the first page of Google for multiple terms, which is why I am qualified to tell you this.
So the question to ask is why doesn’t the best quality articles reach the top position in Google?
And the simple answer is that Google is just machine code at the end of the day.
Extremely smart machine code, but nevertheless machine code.
And in order for Google to have a scalable system they create software filters and algorithms that calculate and rank content.
They look for patterns in language, in keyword phrases, what is placed on the page, how it is placed, what content is bold, italicized, what is included in a subject matter and so on and so on. The point being is it uses algorithms to identify whether the webpage is worth of being on the front page.
Unfortunately as smart as the algorithm is, it’s not a perfect system, but it is better than it’s competitors and getting smarter by the day.
Hopefully you’re still with me on this … don’t worry I’m gonna make my point soon.
Now some of you may not know this, but before getting into real estate I started my career off as a commerical programmer. I worked in four software houses here in New Zealand and before getting into real estate I managed the delivery of several software solutions across the country.
Just telling you this to give you a little context as to where I am coming from.
So as a programmer (let’s put that hat on for a moment) I always look for patterns when it comes to machine code in an effort to reverse engineer it.
With Google, it’s far too complicated to understand all of the moving parts, however if you take a simplistic view towards it you will definitely see some patterns that’s worth noting.
2) Frank’s school of thought
Okay, here’s the skinny …
In order for you to ranked on the first page of Google there two parts to it. The first being what content is on your page and the second being who is linking to your page.
So the first part … what’s on your page.
Look for patterns in the subject matter, take a note of what they are writing about and then structure your content in the same way.
For example if you search for “how to tie a tie” in Google, examine what the top 10 results include in their content and then include them in your content.
You see, if Google’s algorithm sees their content as worthy of being in the top ten results then doesn’t it make sense that their algorithm will deal to you content in the same manner?
Watch this video to see what I mean.
Okay, so this is cool, but there is definitely a lot more to ranking on the front page of Google than just content creation alone and something that I will have to cover at a later date, because this article is getting too long as it is.
For example what if everyone follows my advice and creates articles with the right patterns and pictures and videos etc, well this is where the next part of the ranking equation comes into play.
I will go into more depth on this subject soon so watch out for it.
Now go create some content.
