So once upon a time, you could create a website and usually in less than 30 days your website would start attracting search engine traffic.
Well, I hate to say it, but those days seem to be over from what I hear in the SEO forums and from personal experience.
Now there seems to be a waiting period of between 30 – 90 days, which most SEO’s refer to as the “Google Sandbox”.
The Google Sandbox has been on the lips of SEO’s for years, however this Sandbox is a little different in that time frame has lengthen.
There also seems to be a dance where your website might jump up in the rankings from page 5 one day and then 2 the next and then sometimes it can disappear altogether, but eventually it does come back.
The Sandbox usually applies to brand new domains and has scared off a lot of new marketers because it’s taking a lot longer to start seeing results.
Having said that, if you just stay the course and continue to consistently create new content, you’ll find that your website will jump up in the rankings once it has been released from the Sandbox.
So it’s not all bad news.
But, if you’re not seeing the results you were hoping for when you started your online marketing journey then it could well be that you have been introduced to the Google Sandbox.
As I say, nothing to worry about, and just stay the course.
Best,
Frank
