This is where companies like Beta Testing (formerly Erli Bird) comes in. It is a beta testing site which conducts tests on websites, apps, and even products.
It has a community of beta testers that can conduct these tests. As a beta tester, you’ll get paid for completing a test. You can get paid either in cash or karma points, depending on the test you do.
But is Beta Testing a legit opportunity to make money or is it just a scam to avoid?

Beta Testing is a company that conducts tests on websites, apps, and products. They have a community of beta testers who will do these tests.
The company’s beta testers are not technical developers, but regular people who will likely know how the general population will interact and use the app or website.
As a beta tester, you will be paid for each website, app, or product that you test. You can get paid in either karma points or cash.
Based on what I’ve seen so far, I can say that Beta Testing is a legitimate opportunity. You can really make money testing websites and apps.
You can also earn reviewing and testing products. The money you earn can be requested for withdrawal anytime and the company will pay you. However, there are also issues and concern about Beta Testing.
Chief among the complaints is that the site doesn’t send a lot of test invites. Even invites to participate in focus group discussions are also rare.
Another issue with this opportunity is that the income potential is limited and it seems the site only function well for members who live in the U.S.
I’ll discuss these issues and complaints in more detail as we progress further in this review of Beta Testing.
Who Uses Beta Testing?
Beta Testing is designed for two groups with one being businesses and individuals who have a website, app, or product that they need testing. The site offers them an opportunity to have the hardware, apps, or websites they created tested.
The company has a community of beta testers that are more than willing to conduct tests and provide good quality feedback. Beta Testing also sends the test invites to individuals who are right for the product or app.
The other group are people looking for an opportunity to earn some money online. Beta Testing offers this with an opportunity to test websites, apps, and products.
You get paid for each test that you complete and the company will send test invites via email.
Your profile, location, and the quality of the feedback you give will greatly affect how many invites you can get. Membership to the site is simple and free.

How Does Beta Testing Work?
Beta Testing is a market research company that offers people an opportunity to make money testing websites, apps, and hardware. The company will pay you in cash or in karma points for each test that you complete.
Founded in 2012, the company was known as Erli Bird before rebranding to Beta Testing in early 2019. Despite the rebranding, the company is pretty much the same.
To join, you need to be at least 18 years old, speak fluent English, and must own any device that is required for a specific test. If you meet all of these criteria, you can apply to become a tester.
You start by entering your email address on the site, then fill in a password and you’ll be given access. Once inside, the next step is to complete your profile and personal information.
You must complete this since your profile is one of the main things the company will look at when it comes to sending you test invites.
After completing all of this, you just need to wait for Beta Testing to send you a test invite. Your profile and location will be the main determining factors on how frequently you will receive test invites.
It’s important to act quickly when you receive an invite since tests will have a limited number of spaces available. The invite will also show how long the test will likely last. It can be as short as 30 minutes to as long as several weeks.
It is important to remember that you need to finish testing the site, app, or hardware within the given time. The owner will specify tasks when you join a test and you must follow and complete each and every one of them.
After doing the tasks the next step is to answer several questions that the product owner has specified. So, the first step is to review and complete the tasks assigned, after that you provide feedback.
Once you have submitted the feedback, the owner will review it and email you in case they have questions. You’re responsible for answering whatever questions they may have.
Each test will give you the option to choose what kind of payment you will get. Payment will be given to you several days after the test is completed.
Now, there are three options to choose from, cash, PayPal, karma points, or donate your reward.
Karma points are usually the default selection in case the test does not have a cash option. The karma points you earn can be used to allow you to participate in a test, even if it is already full.
As for cash, you can likely expect to earn $10 to $20 per completed test. Sometimes it’s more and sometimes it’s less.
You can request for withdrawal anytime, just remember that there is a 4% fee if you withdraw an amount that is $15 or less.
You must have completely filled out your payment information since it is a requirement before you can request your money.
What Are People Saying about Beta Testing?
The majority of reviews and comments about Beta Testing (Erli Bird) have been positive, with a lot of people saying the company really pays their members.
However, a lot of the people who have positive things to say don’t really recommend it and one of the major reasons is the lack of testing opportunities.
This issue is out of your control, as well as the company’s since they can only give testing opportunities if they are available.
This also means that the site has more members than testing opportunities available. Hopefully, the change in name and branding can yield more clients so they can offer more tests for their members.
In relation to the problem above, another issue with Erli Bird is that its income potential is limited. Since testing invites are limited, you can’t expect to earn hundreds of dollars with this opportunity.
You might be lucky to earn $50 a month, but the more likely amount you can expect is just $10 to $30 a month.
There are also complaints that the site seems to only be working properly if you live in the U.S. A lot of people living in the different country say that they are having a hard time registering or the site is not working well.
Hopefully this is just a temporary glitch that the company can soon fix.
What I Like about Beta Testing
Now that we know what Beta Testing is and what they are offering, it’s time to discuss what I like about this opportunity.
- The opportunity is simple and easy enough to follow. You won’t need any special skills, talents, or knowledge to accomplish the tasks. You just need to be good at following instructions and providing feedback.
- It is available worldwide and becoming a tester is free. There are no fees when you join and no need to fill out long application forms or undergo tests or interviews before you can become a member.
- You can withdraw your earnings anytime, you don’t have to wait to reach a certain amount to get your money. You can instantly withdraw it once it is placed in your Beta Testing account.
What I Dislike about Beta Testing
Of course, not everything about Beta Testing (Erli Bird) is good and dandy, there are a couple of things about this opportunity that I don’t like.
- The testing opportunities are limited. A lot of people are complaining that they have only received 1 test invite since they joined and some have yet to even get an invite at all. The lack of testing opportunies also means that the income potential is low
- I also don’t like that Erli Bird is a bit glitchy, especially for those living outside the U.S.
Do I Recommend Beta Testing?
After learning more about Beta Testing and what it can really offer, I would say that it is an opportunity that I don’t really recommend, but you could still check it out.
I acknowledge the company’s legitimacy and how easy it is to use, as well as allowing you to withdraw your money anytime.
However, these things are still not enough to overcome the fact that the testing opportunities available are very limited.
I understand that this is really dependent on the member’s profile and on the available tests that Beta Testing has. But it also shows there are more beta testers than testing opportunities.
Though a rebranding might yield more opportunities, I’ll only believe it when I see it. This is why I say that you could just check out the site for now and see if what they offer is suits you.
But if your goal is to make a lot of money, then it would be better to look for a different opportunity.
