The challenge that a lot of people face, especially the ones who are new to this, is where to begin. What kind of opportunity should you look for and how do you start making money from it?
Since there are a lot of different opportunities available, it’s best that you start first with the opportunity that will take advantage of your skills and abilities.

The amount of money you can earn will depend on the clients that you can get for your proofreading business.
The site itself only teaches you and doesn’t really provide an opportunity to make money, unless you become an affiliate.

Proofread Anywhere is A Legit Course That Teaches You How To Make Money as A Proofreader
Proofread Anywhere is a site that offers courses on how you can start making money online as a proofreader.
Caitlin Pyle (who now goes by the name Caitlyn Johanna), who also owns the website theworkanywherelife.com, is the founder and owner of the site.
She has been helping proofreaders since 2007 and even created a book about the subject in 2014. She launched the site in 2015 to provide a complete course about proofreading to further help people.
Based on what I’ve seen so far about Proofread Anywhere, I can say that it is a legitimate website that offers courses about proofreading.
The site can really help people learn about proofreading and how they can make money from it online. The courses are not cheap but it provides great value for the money you will spend.
Of course, like any other opportunity that claims to help you make money online, there are also several issues.
Chief among them is the fact that you cannot request a refund once you have logged in to the member’s area.
There have also been complaints that the things she teachers are not new or groundbreaking and is not really worth the time and money.
I’ll discuss these issues in more detail as we progress further in this review of Proofread Anywhere.
Who Uses Proofread Anywhere?
Proofread Anywhere is designed for people who have a keen eye at spotting mistakes or errors in a document and are looking for opportunities to make money online.
The website offers courses on proofreading to help you learn more about the subject, it will also teach you how to get clients for your proofreading business and how you can turn it into a money-making opportunity.
Proofread Anywhere has two proofreading courses to choose from. Of course, these courses are not available for free, but you can do a 7-day free trial first to see if you like what they are offering.
In the next section, I’ll discuss in more detail the registration process as well as what the two courses bring.
How Does Proofread Anywhere Work?
Proofread Anywhere is a site that offers courses about proofreading and how you can make money from it.
The site has two courses available, the General Proofreading Course and the Transcript Proofreading Course. The good thing about all of this is that you don’t need to have a background in proofreading to start.
You just need to be someone who is good at spotting mistakes or errors. The General Proofreading: Theory and Practice course is the course for people who want to be a general proofreader.
It is divided into 10 modules, with the tenth being a bonus module that will discuss money mindset transformation. It consists of a workshop and workbook.
Module 1 is entitled the Introduction to General Proofreading and will contain an overview of the skills you’ll need to be a proofreader and the companies, businesses, or individuals that usually need a proofreader.
Module 2 is about building your proofreader mindset and focuses on the different types of proofreaders you can specialize in and some common terms used within the industry.
The 3rd module will discuss the basics of proofreading. It will provide insights into the most common mistakes or errors you will come across. The first practice sheet will also be given after this module.
Module 4 is entitled Proofreading Methods + Practice, which discusses the 4 methods of proofreading and how they work best. Another practice sheet will be given after this module.
The 5th module will discuss how to turn your proofreading skill into a business. This module will teach you how to create your resume and website, as well as the rates that you can likely earn and tax rate.
Module 6 is about looking for clients and module 7 is about what you will do once you get clients. These two modules will basically teach you how to find clients and how you can properly work with them and bill them.
The 8th module is about Getting the Most Out of the Freelancing Life. It will provide you with an idea of what a typical schedule of a work-from-home proofreader.
Module 9 is the Ignite Plus Exam, which is only accessible to Ignite Plus students. It’s basically a graded exam to see your competence and aptitude in proofreading.
The General Proofreading Course costs $497 and $597 if you’ll go for the Ignite Plus, which will come with the hand-graded exam, certificate, listing in self-publishing schools and membership in the Marketing Mastermind Group.
The other course is the Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice Course. It is divided into 9 modules and is much more expensive at $1,174.
But this module can be paid in 4 levels with the first one being $77 and gives you access to module 1 for 7 days. The second level costs $197 and adds the second module for an additional 30 days.
Level 3 costs $400 and will already include access to module 3 to 5 for an additional 60 days. The last level of the payment plan is $500 and module 6 to 9 will be accessible, plus lifetime access to the entire course.
Module 1 is entitled the Introduction to Transcript Proofreading and will provide you with an overview of the function of court reporters and proofreaders.
The second module is entitled The Nuts and Bolts of Transcript and it will discuss the possible errors you might come across in a transcript. It will also familiarize you with the vocabulary you will usually see in different types of proceedings.
Modules 3 and 4 is entitled Marking Up Transcript and will discuss its four methods of properly correcting a transcript. It also provides the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Module 5 will provide you with 3,120 pages of 50 simulation transcripts. Here, you’ll learn about the proper way of researching the spelling of places, things, people, etc.
It will also come with a punctuation quiz, which you need to score 100% in order to proceed. Module 6 will discuss how you will communicate within the Court Reporting Profession.

It provides you with the proper and professional way of communicating with court reporters and their agencies. You will also learn what their expectations are from their proofreaders.
The 7th module will talk about billing and accounting procedures. It will discuss how you can properly bill your court reporter clients and how you can compute your taxes.
This module will also include the final exam, which will evaluate your aptitude and competence in transcript proofreading. You need to score at least 90% on the exams to move to the next module.
Module 8 is where you will learn how you can properly market your transcript proofreading skills to get more clients. It makes use of social media and other traditional techniques to connect with clients.
The last module is the concluding lesson, where it discusses how you can identify yourself as a proofreader to build confidence and what you need to have a successful freelance business.
The entire Transcript Proofreading course will likely take 2 to 4 months to complete, while the General Proofreading course will only take a month.
Proofread Anywhere also has several books you can purchase to help you in your proofreading career.
Now the site itself is a training course, but it does offer an opportunity for you to make money, through their affiliate program.
It’s simple and free to become an affiliate, you just need to have a blog or website where you can post the affiliate link.
The site pays 30% commission for every General Proofreading course sale that your link generates. Commissions are paid via PayPal at the end of each month.
It is important to note that you should at least make 1 sale within 6 months or else your affiliate account will be deactivated. If your affiliate link doesn’t generate at least one click within 3 months your account will also be deactivated.
What People are Saying about Proofread Anywhere
A lot of reviews are positive about Proofread Anywhere, saying the site really does provide useful information about proofreading and how to get the business started.
However, I’ve seen a lot of bad comments about the company and its founder Caitlyn Johanna. There were a lot of people saying that Caitlyn has somehow lost it and the company is falling apart.
But looking at the comments made against her antics and actions, these were during her divorce with her husband, a trying time in her life.
Though her acting out during this period is not really good, it also doesn’t really represent who she is or what her company is about.
Of course, there are still some issues about Proofread Anywhere, starting with their no refund policy. Once you’ve logged in for the first time, you can never ask for a refund anymore.
The site’s reasoning for this is that after logging in, you already gain access to all the modules available, particularly for the General Proofreading course.
So they want to avoid the possibility of people taking advantage of logging in, copying all the materials and asking for a refund. Besides, there’s a 7-day free trial so you can give it a try without any risk.
Another common issue I saw was that the methods she teaches are not new or groundbreaking. They say they can learn what she is teaching for free with some research or at a cheaper price.
Though what she teaches may be found on the internet, it will take you a lot of time and effort to look for it and make sense of it as well.
It’s not that easy to actually research and find all of the things that are being taught in the course. Then there’s also the issue of trying to make sense of all of it.
If you don’t want to waste time and effort and you have the budget for it, then you can just enroll in the course or take the 7-days trial and see if it is worth it to invest.
What I Like about Proofread Anywhere
Now that we know what Proofread Anywhere is and what they are offering, it’s time to discuss what I like about it.
- The first thing that I like about Proofread Anywhere is that the training course they offer doesn’t just stop at teaching you the basics of proofreading, it also teaches you how to turn what you learn into a business and make money out of it. The courses will also teach you how to bill your clients and compute your tax.
- Another thing that I like about Proofread Anywhere is that it provides an opportunity for you to make money on the site. You can become an affiliate and promote the General Proofreader course the site offers to earn commissions. You get 30% for every person that enrolls in the course through your affiliate link.
- It’s also good that you have a lot of ways to reach Caitlyn since she is also very active on Facebook. You don’t have to rely on talking to her via email, as you can also send her a message via social media.
What I Dislike about Proofread Anywhere
Of course, not everything is well and dandy with Proofread Anywhere, as there are also things about this opportunity that I didn’t really like.
- The first thing that I didn’t like about Proofread Anywhere is that their course is a bit expensive. Yes, you can get a lot of valuable information and knowledge from it, but shelling out $500 for it is still a steep price to pay. This will likely limit the number people who can enroll as not everyone will have the extra cash to afford it.
- Another thing that I don’t like about Proofread Anywhere is that they don’t have a refund policy. Though I get the reason why they are refraining from providing refunds, it would be better if there was an option for people to get their money back. It’s not uncommon for people to have buyer’s remorse after making a purchase, so having an option of a refund will likely increase the number of people giving the course a try.
- Being a proofreader is not really a job for everyone. Though everybody can enroll in the course, not everyone is cut out to be a proofreader. You have to be someone who is a keen observer and good at spotting mistakes and errors. Though these things can be learned, learning the skill may not be enough to help you succeed in this career. This is where the refund would likely come in handy since there will be people who will decide after a few days or a week that proofreading is not really for them.
Do I Recommend Proofread Anywhere?
After learning more about what Proofread Anywhere can really bring, I can say that this is an opportunity that is worth checking out especially if you are good at spotting errors in documents and have patience.

The site is a good opportunity for people who are looking to become proofreaders and have the patience to go through a lot of documents and texts.
That’s really one of the challenges of being a proofreader, to have the patience and keen eye to sift through documents and transcripts and identify the errors and mistakes and correct them.
Unless you’re okay with this, you won’t really last as a proofreader. The beauty of this opportunity is that you can also make money from it if you choose to be an affiliate.
You can earn money promoting the different products that Proofread Anywhere offers. It is also important to note that Proofread Anywhere doesn’t have a refund policy.
So you need to be really sure that you want to be a proofreader before you spend at least $500 on their courses.
