Inboxdollars is yet another get-paid-to (GPT) website that is promoted to help you earn extra money by completing offers, watching ads, taking surveys, reading emails and getting cash back on purchases.
In this review, I discuss how to earn money with Inboxdollars, whether they’re a legit company or a scam.
You can read in the comments section that there are a number of people using Inboxdollars, with mixed success.
I’m not a big fan of GPT, because you can spend a lot of time completing small tasks and not make a hell of a lot of money. I have read that it can be anywhere between $.30 to $1 per hour.
Whether that’s a good reflection of what people earn – I dunno, as this is largely determined by how many tasks you have available in your location.
I personally, don’t see it as a worthwhile money generator to earn extra money, if you compare it to some other money making options online.
So this means that you will earn money (or should I say pennies) if you persist with it – but frankly there are a lot better ways of making extra money.

Earn an Instant $5 Bonus Just for Signing Up
Whilst you do get a $5 sign up fee when you join InboxDollars, you can’t actually get your hands on it until you reach the minimum payout threshold, which is $30. Try getting $30, it’s harder than you think.
You can see how I earn money online here (income proof).
There are a lot of other GPT websites, that have much lower minimum payout threshold of $5, so the fact that Inboxdollars threshold is $30, kinda makes you think that the $5 is merely a hook, to get you completing as many tasks as possible to make them money.
In my opinion, InboxDollars should rephrase it’s name and call themselves InboxPennies, because that’s about what you’ll make from them.
Delivering papers will probably pay more.
Okay, so I wasn’t intending on dissing them, but look, if you get paid $0.20 for completing a 20 minute survey then – sumthin ain’t right.
If you like doing surveys then an Inboxdollar alternative would be Opinion Outpost and Swagbucks. Like Inboxdollars, Opinion Outpost comes with it’s fair share of problems too, but that’s just something you have to put up with when dealing with survey websites.
What is Inbox Dollars?
InboxDollars offers several ways for you to earn cash, from playing games, opening email, entering sweepstakes and taking surveys and a sign-up bonus for joining.
Inboxdollars was founded in 2000 and is a Inc. 5000 company that pays real cash to it’s members.
Inboxdollars acquired another similar website namely SendEarnings in 2005 and expanded to the UK with the launch of InboxPounds in 2012 and DailyRewards in 2014.
In May 2019, Inboxdollars was acquired by Prodege, LLC who also owns Swagbucks, Mypoints and ShopAtHome.
Who Uses Inbox Dollars?
There are two groups of users.
People who want to advertise their businesses on Inboxdollars and the people who want to earn extra money taking surveys and other random tasks.
InboxDollars used to be available to for people to earn cash worldwide, however, with it’s recent acquisition have now only made this money making opportunity available to people in the United States.
How To Join Inbox Dollars
This is a fairly simple process to create an inboxdollars account and earn cash.
1) Sign up with your name and email address, be sure to use a dedicated email address for InboxDollars due the the number of emails flooding your inbox.
2) From there, simply activate your account and you will receive the $5 sign up bonus.
When you first create your InboxDollars account , you’ll earn a $5 bonus just for signing up.
Whilst, the thought of earning $5 for simply signing up is a great incentive to join, the reality, paints a different picture.
You see, you can’t actually redeem that $5, until you have reached the minimum threshold which is $30.
Fine you say – I’ll just complete a few surveys, watch a couple of videos, answer some emails and I’ll rack up $30 in no time.
Let me know how you get on with that. 🙂
How Do You Make Money With Inbox Dollars?
There are multiple ways to earn cash with inboxdollars and really just a case of following prompts, taking surveys etc.
Here’s how you can get started:
Take Online Surveys
Most online surveys for money pay from $0.50 to $5.00 and take 3 minutes to 25 minutes to complete.
There are some online surveys that pay $10, $20, or even more if you match the demographic profile they are looking for.
Taking surveys for money is a popular way to earn.
The biggest problems I see with taking online surveys is that you don’t often qualify for all surveys, which means that you’re spending time answering pre-qualifying questions that may never turn into money.
Imagine being reject 4 times in a row and spending around 20 minutes on each, filling out pre-qualification questionnaires – that’s gotta hurt.
As you can imagine this can be not only time consuming, but extremely frustrating.
Watching Tv
Big brand companies want consumers to watch short snippets of their content, like movie trailers or new product features. They pay Inboxdollars, and they share a portion of those earnings with you.
Inboxdollars like to refer it as watching tv, but in essence it is really like watch Youtube videos.
Sounds good on paper, but the amount of money you earn from watching videos is a very small amount.
Get Rewarded for Playing Games
I know it sounds crazy, but did you know that you can play games with InboxDollars and also earn cash.
They feature a wide array of games. You can play games like Monkey Bubble Shooter, Mahjong Solitaire, Outspell, and Candy Jam. In addition, they partner with GSN casino to offer you access to hundreds of GSN games.
For every dollar you spend on GSN games, you earn 18% cashback.
Cash back for Online Shopping
Earn cash back while you shop online, get free samples and discounts from top brands, and more. Get cash back from some of your favorite brands, has got to be a good thing.
They’ll also share with you insider savings tips on where to find the best free stuff online. New offers posted regularly for members to save and earn.
Get Paid To Read Emails
Receive offers directly to your email, and they’ll pay you cash for reading them, or complete the offer for additional earning opportunities.
Coupon Cash Rewards
Get access to free coupons for groceries, home, beauty and more. Use them to save money on your everyday purchases while also earning cashback in your account for every coupon you redeem.
You also earn $0.10 in your InboxDollars account every time you redeem a coupon.
Referral Program
Like a lot of get-paid-to websites, Inboxdollars allows you to earn $1 for every person you refer who activates their Inboxdollars account. This only applies to the first 5 referrals, after which you will be able to earn 30% of new referrals for the life time of their membership.
How Long Does It Take To Get A Check From Inbox Dollars?
How long does it take to process a check? Non-Gold Members: 1st payments are processed 10-16 days after your request, on Wednesdays each week.
After submitting your first payment request, it takes 10-16 days to cycle through the verification process before the check can be issued.
How Do You Get Paid From Inboxdollars?
So how do you cash out using Inboxdollars?
To redeem payment from Inboxdollars, you simply go to the Request Payment Page and so long as you have adequate money (over $30) in your account you can redeem it for Epayments including, Merchant Cards (Gift Cards), Donations and Prepaid Visa.
According to Inboxdollars official website PrePaid Visa® Cash Cards are processed by Swift.
Inboxdollars charges a $3.00 processing fee per payment request but $3.00 is then deposited back into your account to get you started on your next payment request.
Here’s more info on that https://support.inboxdollars.com/hc/en-us/articles/204153445-How-do-I-request-payment
How Do You Get Paid?
You can cash out your InboxDollars account once your balance reaches $30., which means that you will have to complete a number of surveys and offers in order to cash out.
Unfortunately, Paypal is not currently a payment option with Inboxdollars.
What I Liked About Inboxdollars
- Even though the payout rate is low, I still like the fact that you can earn money completing small tasks with no or very little skill or experience.
- I also like the fact that they have an app that you install and use to complete tasks when your out and about.
What I Didn’t like about Inboxdollars
- I didn’t like the fact that the minimum payout is $30 dollars. Other get-paid-to websites have a much lower payout rate than Inboxdollars, most starting at $5 dollars. This is not unexpected though, given they credit your account with $5 upon signing up. This means your true threshold is $25 – which is still a lot, comparatively speaking.
- There is a $3 processing fee when you cash out your first $30 dollars, which means the $5 credit you get when signing up actually turns out to be $2.
- The amount of money you make from completing various tasks is very low for the amount of time it takes for you to complete tasks.
- Pre-paid Visa Cash Cards and Merchant eCards are eligible for US residents only
- Partial payments are not permitted, as payment is made in full on the member’s account.
Is InboxDollars a Scam?
If you’ve got this far in the review, then I can only assume that you would have come to the conclusion that InboxDollars is a legitimate company. But, being a legitimate company doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a good way for you to earn money.
Yes, you can earn money, and yes, it does take a lot of time effort to do so, but they also terminate accounts for unknown reasons.
In fact my test account was terminated and all I did was sign up.
Imagine, if I had been an active member, completed multiple surveys etc and had accumulated close to $30. Suffice it to say, I wouldn’t be a happy.
Think this wouldn’t happen to you? I bet the folks in the comments below didn’t think so either when their accounts were terminated.
Summary of Inbox Dollars
I hope you enjoyed reading my Inboxdollars review.
You can see a number of inboxdollars complaints in the comment section below from present and past members saying that it can take weeks to get your first check in some cases a month or more.
Of course the fact that you are NOT qualified for many more surveys than you are qualified for also is a great source of frustration.
These type of sites make it seem like all you need to do is to take surveys to earn some extra cash but it can be very difficult to find surveys that are interested in your specific demographics which you do not find out until after you fill out lengthy pre survey questionnaires!
Using this site can be a real hassle and ultimately you will very likely only be making a couple of dollars per week that you can put toward your overall earnings.
This is not the best place to make extra money. The amounts that you earn are too small to really add up to anything and the time that you spend taking the surveys (or even finding a survey to take) is wasted time.
There are other ways to earn money and other sites that can help you to earn a real part time income inbox dollars is not that way to go.

I have had the same experience with inbox dollars.
Not being able to qualify for surveys.
What other ways can I generate real income on line?
If you could , point me in the right direction I would appreciate it
Hi Michael,
If you want to build a real online business then I recommend Wealthy Affiliate especially if you’re new to making money online.
Best,
Frank
Do you need credit cards to start?
Inboxdollars is a scam, they do not like paying the users a dime for all the surveys and spam you collect
trust me I used there site for 10 days for evaluation purposes to see if I would really get paid for the time and effort i put into the services.
the only thing I got was my account terminated during the “payment process” and while waiting for my money I was reading there terms of service and they clearly state they do not promise any payments, In fact they also claim to the advertisers that there members are true and honest while taking the surveys, This is in fact is most not likely true, I would like to see the supreme court subpoena there time recorded surveys
and show both advertisers and consumer how much of a scam this site is.
Your review made me crack up laughing “inboxpennies” thats honestly what it should be called. You never qualify for a survey. Theyll make you take the whole thing thing when your almost done they tell you..sorry but you didnt qualify for this survey. Ive spent 30mins on a survey to be told I didnt quality. The only way to make ‘money’ on this site is to actually spend money on their offers. My spam folder is soo full because of this site its ridiculous. I still have yet to reach my first $30. Based on other reviews ive read it could take months just for them to pay me. Once I do finally get my money im done with them. Maybe ill try one that actually values their subscribers.
Thanks for sharing Erin.
Never again! Getting payment from Inbox Dollars is a joke! I requested payment and was told it would take 18 DAYS to “process”, and just now I logged in and was told that my account was de-activated, I would need to reactivate, and now my so-called payment is another 16 days away. I was hoping for a little extra cash for my birthday but that was a no-go, and now New Years is shot for me too. I plan on posting warnings about this scam on EVERY social media I can think of!
No one is going to pay you significant money for easy work. If you do the searches every day. Do the 3 surveys they offer everyday and click on the paid emails you end up getting to their 30 threshold in 2 to 3 weeks.
I think you need to work on your math skills. Try $30.00 divided by 21 to get the correct amount.
Still not much money, but a huge difference from your calculating.
Kindly extend this opportunity to me to earn a living on the web. Thanks for sharing. Emmanuel
Here’s my experience with InboxDollars. I was a member for over 5 years. I cancelled my membership about 3 years ago. Frank is right. They should’ve called themselves InboxPennies, and that’s exactly what it’s worth, pennies. I didn’t take a lot of surveys because you won’t qualify for many of them. I also didn’t do any of the trial offers because I don’t trust giving out my credit card info to these crooks, plus I was looking to make money, not spend it. But, I did all of the paid emails, and they amounted to about 3 or 4 cents per paid email. The minimum payout is $30. I made about $2 or $3 a month. Now you do the math on this one. I remember it taking about 12 months or longer to reach payout of $30! I even signed up a few referrals and never made anything; I guess they figured it wasn’t worth their time. InboxDollars should be shut down. Getting paid pennies is a direct insult to anyone’s intelligence. There are too many of these type companies that sucker you into believing you’ll make some decent money. Nobody’s trying to get rich, but at least a real part-time job will pay you about 200 bucks a week. We all have been bamboozled and hoodwinked.
Hi Frank,
I have to respectfully disagree. InboxDollars won’t make you rich, but there are a handful of great cash offer sign-ups on the site. I made $40 over the course of an hour right after I signed up. I will say that I’m now to the point where my options are mostly to make pennies, but hey that $40 covered my internet bill for the month. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading your review and I definitely do agree that there are better ways to make money online. Thanks for the post!
I’ve been an inbox client for over 4 years and has NEVER encountered a problem when cashing out, nor have I ever had a problem cashing any of their checks. Making real money is like biting bricks. About one cents every 4-5 hours it seems. Maybe, I got plenty time to WASTE….only I wish.
i am a member of the site myself and it has taken about a year just to get up the 30 dollars required to check out, in my opinion it’s not really worth it at all getting into this site
I’ve made about $50 through InboxDollars, but it’s taken me about 8 months to get there. I’m done with this website as soon as I get this payout
I’ve been a member for 6 months.. Read emails , did the cash offers for places like sophora and the body shop, videos the radio thing just be told because my account only makes money off the emails I am no longer allowed to receive paid emails. Neither am I allowed to watch the videos and the radio app doesn’t work anymore.. And the offers I do make money on they have removed.
I’ve been a member for a year and a half, maybe?
I definitely agree, you will make next to nothing if that through the use of InboxDollars. Qualifying for surveys is rare and the only way to make money consistently is opening e-mails, which will give you pennies. Almost adding insult to injury, you can only cash out once you reach a balance of $25!
Even more embarrassing for this service is that their website is bugged and is unusable unless accessed through the mobile app, which itself is nothing to write home about in terms of usability.
I suddenly started receiving e-mails from them saying I had signed up and just needed to confirm my account, which is why I am reading this page. I never signed up and have no interest or time for this kind of thing. I think they have taken to scamming people into signing up since so many seem to realize they don’t pay what they promise.
InboxDollars is one of the worst programs. Unlike others, they have a very short “6-months of inactivity and we’ll close your account and keep your money” term. Plus, you earn next to nothing. I too stopped getting paid emails and tried to unsuccessfully qualify for surveys. As such, I mostly did the big-ticket things, like signing up for money back on donations to charities. I accrued $98 and log in monthly to avoid the “inactivity” thing. But, guess what? They just closed my account for not completing anything in six months. They don’t even hold up their own definition of “activity”. So, user beware–withdraw when you can, even though UNLIKE the other programs, they charge a 3% fee on what you’ve earned. Sketchy, sketchy, sketchy.
In my opinion, Inbox Dollars is a scam. After registering and wasting hours upon hours to make a few cents I started receiving a swarm of emails, 83 in one day to be exact, from the companies I was questioned about in the surveys. Not to mention an abundance of calls from unknown numbers. What an invasion of privacy! This is not worth the hassle. Be smart and don’t fall for this one!
I print the coupons from Coupons.com through Inbox Dollars. You earn $0.10 for every one you redeem. I also do my internet searches through ID. Still takes a while, but it will add up.
Their request payment page is broken and they are refusing to pay me the money I earned. They keep telling me to clear the cache. I’ve tried 3 different browsers, cleared all caches and restarted the computer. I guess they are a rip-off.
They are!!! they suspended my account after I made 9 dollars. I wanna report them. if you know a way let me know.
I agree. It does take awhile to build up money, especially when doing surveys and paid emails. I shop a lot online and it adds up much quicker when you link it through inboxdollars. Also, I do print up the coupons and receive (it does take awhile to process) .10 per coupon. It has taken me 2 years but I have over $206.00 to claim. I, previously, have claimed and received $53.00.
They suspended my account just a few minutes ago after I had made 9 dollars!!!!! a total scam!!! I cussed them out in an email and live chat…..looking for a way to report them.
Rip off. I referred a couple people to Inbox Dollars that lived close to me and they closed out all of our accounts saying we were all in the same location and the same person. We provided IP addresses and even went to as far as asking if we could provide identification to show proof and of course it was negative. Lost a total of about $31. As for my neighbors probably the same or close to the same..
Yeah I agree with you 100%. They manipulate of how much videos you can watch, etc. I’m so pissed that I got to $38.25 and they told me and my roommate that closed our accounts because we are only allowed one account per household. That’s BS. I don’t have anything to do with my roommate’s account.
Not a scam. But it can take a long time to cash out, and then they deduct a few dollars as a fee. I’ve received a few checks from them over the years, but you certainly need patience and persistence.
i dont know about anything please tell me one website where i can earn real money
Exactly what they told me as I was approaching my first $30 to be able to cash out. They said that my IP address has been hidden and that I had the robot like activity of course it’s only after I sent them an email in regards to not receiving something oh yes it was a gift card that kept being promised
They are legitimate but things have slow down for me. One time I did very well with them and the past 6 months have not been very good for me with the same amount of time I have giving to the site for the last 4 years.I use to see as many as 15 surveys offers on any day. Now I am lucky to get 3 offers and I am usually disqualified.what can I say are there any others sites I could do better.
inboxdollars stole $27 from me. It took me 6 month to accumulate $27 then they stop selling notices to my email. Six months later they deactivated my account and took the $27. They are thieves so dont waste your time with them.
Actually was liking this site, took two weeks to get to the $30 payout. Noticed that the surveys had dried up the last couple days, I was at $31 this morning and now my account has been deactivated. Well played InboxDollars, what a bunch of jerks! Best to stay away from this one.
Inboxdollars is not a scam. You won’t qualify for every survey but you will for some. I can make an average of $1.50 a day. by doing like 3 surveys a day. I have already cashed out my first $30 to see if it pays out and they do. In about 2 weeks I have already made another $20 but I’m going to save this payout for a couple months from now until I hit $100.
I have heard it called the Inboxdollars scam!! All I have to say is you 1) better CAREFULLY read there lengthy terms and agreement before signing on the dotted line! My account got terminated because I unfortunately didn’t and didn’t realize my sister couldn’t have an account because we live together and have same address and used to use the same computer. We worked on surveys for hours and made $60 plus each and then got terminated and had to forfeit our money! Really sucked! 2) They will give out your information….phone number and email address. So if you don’t want tons of spam calls and spam emails….run away!! 3) They do not have a phone number to contact them. They have a support email and a live chat who doesn’t give you any useful information. Needless to say….Inbox Dollars is the worse survey site that I have ever encountered….you have been warned!! 🙂
Inbox dollars is a complete HACK !!! The scratch to wins are fake. I scratched to try and win $10 and i scratched off $10 !!! but the result was “sorry no win” i did it again and it did the same thing with 25 cents but when i scratched 2 cents it went through. It’s a scam and it’s doesn’t want to give up money. DONT TRY IT
I have cashed out several times mo st recent 110 dollars before that I have received 3 other checks one for 36 one for 50.50 and 60 so if you put a effort into earning it pays off nice.
Hello All!
So today I decided to report Inbox Dollars to the Better Business Bureau. They are blatantly operating a “Bait and Switch” sales scam.
On 07/03/19 my Inbox Dollars account suddenly stops recieving any and all survey offers. Twice I emailed customer support with negative results. When I learned other customers had had some of their most favorite and familiar ways to earn removed from their accounts in an effort to make use of alternative earning methods or methods that may cost money.
This is textbook definition of a “bait and switch” sales scam.
Feel free to email if any questions or if u need more info!
Inbox dollars is a very bad company. I was almost at cash out then almost everything completed stop paying, I complained and they kicked me out because I use a VPN for security. A decent company would tell you first not let you complete hours of work. Also I got a phone virus from one of their offers.
I was using inbox dollar for several years while in the U.S. after leaving the U.S. I continued to use the website. When I asked for the money I had earned i was told I would not get any money because I had left the states. Not even the money I had made while in the U.S. They were aware I had left the U.S. but it only became an issue went I asked for the money.
Total scam.
good
LOL I don’t know. I have been using Inbox Dollars for two months and have made $300 from it. It is actually not that hard to reach the threshold while spending three hours a week on it. Sucks that everyone had such a horrible experience with them. I’ve referred a bunch of people to Inbox Dollars and have shown them how to use it. They love how easy it is.
FYI. I’m just a user with great experience. 🙂
