jerky_intro

Company: Jerky Direct
Website: www.jerkydirect.com
Founder/CEO: Roger Ball/Donna Soffen(Recently Relauched)

There have been a lot of rumors flying about Jerky Direct for the past 6 months and most of what you are hearing is true.

Before we dive into the details I think that it is important to establish that this review will be unbiased and full of accurate details so that you can make an educated decision.

In fact, that is the reason I write these reviews.

I enjoy providing information to people because there are so many scams out there and I want to provide a real way for people to see companies as they truly are.

If the company is legit, I will say so and provide evidence.

If the company is a scam then I will try my best to show you exactly why I think so.

I do not have any intention of maligning a company’s reputation unless it is warranted.

All that I ask is that you keep an open mind until the end and take all of this information for what it’s worth.

At the very end of the review I will provide you with the final verdict and recommend a company to at least show you what a legit company is and how you can get started.

A Direct Jerky Overview

Roger Ball launched Jerky Direct in 2004 but has over 30 years of experience in the jerky business.

The company has a pretty clear message and produces quality jerky at a “fair price.”

The last claim is open to interpretation but there is no doubt that the jerky looks absolutely delicious.

If anyone has tried their jerky please let me know if it is worth the money in the comments below.

The company is headquartered in Idaho, USA and has had a bit of a rough patch in the past 6 months due to the rumors of it closing its doors.

Here is where things start to get interesting for Jerky Direct. On June 30th of 2016, Jerky Direct closed down periodically.

The “old” company went out of business but has recently relaunched under new leadership.

What is great about the relaunch is the same jerky that a lot of people enjoyed.

There are two articles I want to share with you.

The first one is an Official Jerky Direct Announcement that provides a lot of important information about the relaunch process.

It is a MUST read for everyone considering Jerky Direct.

The next is an article from Jerky Direct stating that they are officially staying open and information about the “Relaunch Prelaunch.”

I always encourage you to read the links provided so you can process the information while reading along.

It helps make the right decision for you.

Ultimately, make this decision is the most important part of the process and you can’t do it with limited information.

Products & Services

jerky_product_flavors

If a company doesn’t have a marketable product, then it is going to end in failure.

One of the most charming aspects of Jerky Direct is that the leadership has kept the product line simple.

What I mean by this is that there are only 4 products. That’s right, 4 flavors of jerky that come in 2.5 oz. packs.

Here is the run down:

ORIGINAL FLAVOR (2 PACK) – 2 bags of Beef Jerky, 2.5 oz.: $21.75

TERIYAKI FLAVOR (2 PACK) – 2 bags of Beef Jerky, 2.5 oz.: $21.75

MESQUITE SMOKED (2 PACK) – 2 bags of Beef Jerky, 2.5 oz.: $21.75

SRIRACHA FLAVOR (2 PACK) – 2 bags of Beef Jerky, 2.5 oz.: $21.75

OK, here is the deal. I am a huge fan of beef jerky and a few of my family members makes their own at home.

So when I see these 4 delicious looking products, I am blinded by the look of the product.

However, I could never bring myself to spend nearly $22 on 5 oz. of beef jerky.

It is just simply out of the price range of many people and it is hard to justify spending that kind of money on a snack.

With that being said, some people can and Jerky Direct is a fairly popular product and there is always room for expansion.

Compensation Plan

jerky_staying_open

The Jerky Direct is by far the most simplistic compensation I have seen after reviewing about 50 MLMs.

If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself by clicking on the Jerky Direct Compensation Plan link.

Jerky Direct believes that there are only 3 simple steps necessary for success:

1. Eat – All you have to do is enjoy your favorite flavors of beef jerky.
2. Share – Show everyone that you can get quality beef jerky and get them to join you in the online business opportunity.
3. Live – Enjoy the residual income that you generate from selling beef jerky and recruiting others to the business.

Sounds simple right?

Although the business model is simple and easy to follow, recruiting and getting people to spend $22 on 5 oz. of beef jerky may be more difficult than you think.

This is just my opinion though because some affiliates have been successful in the past.

This is how you get started with Jerky Direct:

ONLINE DISTRIBUTOR KIT:
• Personal Website
• Access to back office
• Guide to get started
• Audios & videos to get started
• Basic marketing materials
• Pay your 1st year of renewal fees (only $14 per year after the initial payment)

PROFIT CENTER
• Sell jerky at retail prices
• Purchase jerky at wholesale prices
• Recruit & enroll Distributors to create your downline
• Gain access to compensation plan

BONUS CONTENT
• Get sales 101 training
• Marketing Online tips
• Strategies from insiders
• Q&A Live support
• Webinars for Distributors
• Support from your Upline

All of this can be accessed for $45 initial payment.

To be honest, this is rather cheap for access to the entire Jerky Direct platform.

This is one of the things I like about the company but more on that later.

SIMPLE COMMISSION PLAN:
1. No Confusing Requirements
2. No Quotas
3. No Home Party Requirements
4. No Growth Restrictions
5. Fast Start Bonuses
6. Retails Bonuses
7. 100% Commission Payout Regardless of Your Rank

This compensation plan seems legit and simple, both are characteristics I like to see in an online business opportunity.

I will break down most of the compensation plan in the next section because there is a lot to like about it.

Let’s take a look.

Things I Like About Jerky Direct

Just about all of the things listed in the Simple Commission Plan are what you should look for if you decide to join an MLM.

There are also downfalls to the same plan but I will get to those in the “Don’t Like” section after this.

First of all, there are no confusing requirements.

This is a great way to build team unity and makes the compensation plan friendlier to newbies.

One of the best features of the company is that you don’t need to throw home parties in order to sell jerky to friends and family members.

This is something that I wish more MLMs would aim toward because there is nothing worse than trying to push product on the ones you love.

It feels wrong!

The last thing I’d like to mention is that the commission payout is the same no matter what rank you are.

This means that you get paid no matter how big your downline is and you don’t have to feel pressured into recruiting constantly.

Now I’m not saying that you don’t need to recruit, but this company at least tries to shift the focus on the product rather than recruitment requirements.

Now on to the things that I don’t really like about the company.

Things I Don’t Like About Jerky Direct

The first thing that I want to talk about is the price of the beef jerky.

Although the pictures look amazing, I’m not sure how many people are willing to spend $21.75 on a snack.

Think about it this way, when you go to a decent restaurant, you can get a New York Strip with mashed potatoes and a cold beer for that price.

To some people that really enjoy beef jerky, the price might be worth it but I don’t think there is a large enough customer base to push the company into the future.

This leads me to my next issue.

The doors of the company shut once before and the entire company is currently going through a relaunch process.

If the company shut down, what is stopping it from closing its doors again.

Now, the company is under new leadership and seems to have made an attempt at taking out the bad elements and focus more on the product.

Only time will tell if this company will stay open for the long haul.

Now it’s time for the conclusion to this review.

The Final Verdict

This is a simple call in regards to the company’s legitimacy.

Jerky Direct is in no way a scam because the company has survived for several years even though it had to go through the relaunching process.

This isn’t an ideal resume builder but it means that the majority of its members felt that the company is good enough to keep around.

With that being said, I don’t recommend many network marketing companies because the only real way to make money is to recruit.

One of the statistics that pushes me to recommend other business models is because the average member of any MLM will only recruit 1.6 people.

This means that there are a select few that make tons of money, and the rest make peanuts.

OK, so where do we go from here since I cannot recommend this company.

Well, you could take a look at your skill set and see if it needs improving.

This is something that everyone should do if you are thinking of creating an online business.

It just so happens that I have a company that has created training programs that teach you how to create a business and there is no recruiting involved.

Another great aspect of my #1 recommended company is that you can try it out at no cost.

That is right, test it out for free so there is no risk involved.

The best way to take a look at this company is to read this review.

  1. I am a distributor… most of what you had stated is way out of date due to changes made working with distributors with feet on the ground, and the company is focusing effort on helping folks work online to be able to increase their odds of success.
Still not perfect, but the bags are now 3 oz each, the jerky is better than before, and there are new snack sticks in bbq flavor that are very good.
On the whole MLM thing… you really can’t afford $24 a month to buy continually, but with 11 reps working under me right now, I am making around $19 a month and should soon have my jerky for free. So I really like that I get my snacks at almost no cost at this point. And if folks follow in my footsteps, should be able to at least buy a pizza or two a month in another 6 months to a year. 5 years… should be some decent extra money. It is not a get rich quick scheme in any way shape or form…. it takes work. But if you like jerky and residual income… there is nothing to fear…. virtually nothing to lose because of the low entry cost… and the teams are very friendly and helpful.
Am I biased… well, maybe a little…. but I could not find a much better company to get started with and not have potential loss. Average MLMs have $100 startup or more and you have to learn their product. If you don’t know what jerky is… I probably won’t talk to you much as a prospect.
There will be more changes coming, but nothing to be scared about.
Talking about re-launch…. the new is not affiliated with the old Jerky Direct… it was a buy out with no plans to close the doors. Hope that answers lots of questions. If you have more, feel free to email me.
