Welcome to my review of Legal Shield!

I am so glad you made it to my review because it means you are doing your homework before joining a business.

Believe it or not, many people join MLMs and then find out that they bit of more than they could chew.

Others join without doing research and realize that most MLMs are nothing more than pyramid schemes.

I am not saying that all MLMs are illegal, I’m simply saying that there is a lot of evidence that the vast majority of MLMers do not make money.

Not only that, many MLMs don’t last past a few years because they are based on nothing but hype and prelaunch sales.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to worry about that with Legal Shield because it has been around for a very long time.

My reviews are pretty straight forward.

I provide an overview of the company followed by a product line.

Then I provide you with the nuts and bolts of the compensation plan.

The last section of the review is a breakdown of all the things that may raise red flags or help point you in the right direction.

I leave the decision making up to you and only provide you with facts.

I like adding as many comments, both good and bad, so that can see what people really think about Legal Shield.

Legal Shield Overview – What is the Company?

A man named Harland Stonecipher was injured in a vehicle accident in 1969, and the company was born.

Harland put all of his savings into defending himself against something that was not his fault.

Originally, the company was called Sportman’s Motor Club in 1972 and then renamed Pre-Paid Legal Services in 1984.

Then, in 2001, the company became Legal Shield and stands this way today.

There are nearly 1000 employees and over $400 million in revenue in 2011.

That was 5 years ago and they are still going strong.

So this means that variations of the company have been around for 47 years.

That is the oldest MLM that I have ever reviewed so I’m sure there is tons of information out there, which makes research a little easier.

Ok, let’s take a look at the product line.

One thing that I really like about this MLM right off the bat is that the website has a list of competitors and their prices.

How many other MLMs that I have reviewed had this same comparison?

ZERO, yes this is the first MLM to do this that I have noticed.

I will now provide you both a negative and positive comment from a customer to see if the company really does what they claim to do.

This is a rather long comment but I didn’t want to cut off the customer comment.

The Desired Settlement is probably the most telling thing about this customers experience with Legal Shield: “I’d just like my money back. It’s not that much, but from the behaviors of the agents at the corporate offices, I suspect that this kind of thing goes on a lot.”

He/She may be right because there are 119 Problems with Product/Services section of the Better Business Bureau website.

I will go over this entire page later on so that we know exactly what to is going on.

This comment is a little more straight forward and the commenter is very happy with their products and services.

They also claim that Legal Shield is always there for them which goes a long way.

When it comes to legal matter, you always want to know what your best options are and if you get bad legal advice, you are going to be in big trouble.

Let’s take a look at the compensation plan so you can figure out how you can make money with this company.

The Compensation Plan – How you Make Money

Ok, right away I notice that this compensation plan is a bit different than other plans I have seen in the past.

There aren’t really laid out ways that you can make money.

It is more or less a long list of ranks and how those ranks get paid.

So I will Simply link you this Legal Shield Compensation Plan PDF.

There are two reasons I am making this section shorter for you.

One, you need to know exactly what the plan is all about and it is better if you look at it for yourself.

The second reason is because I don’t want to post a random affiliate video that is more or less a sales pitch.

Either way, I hope you look at the compensation plan link so you know what you are getting yourself into.

Without this information, I do NOT think you can make an educated decision.

Better Business Bureau (BBB)

Ok, there is a lot of information in this section but I will just put a link for you because you should get familiar with the BBB website.

The BBB gave them the best grade possible but that does not necessarily mean that they are perfect.

It simply means that they are good at taking care of customer issues.

For example, I have never seen a company on the database with this many customer complaints.

CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS – 202 in past 3 years, 69 closed in this year alone.

Don’t get me wrong it’s great that they take care of their customer’s issues but that is a lot of complaints.

Here are a few to help paint the picture.

The first comment is about an issue that always seems to plague MLMs, Legal Shield as well.

This is about the billing department playing hardball and not refunding erroneous payments.

This is one of those things that should never happen and at the very least, not have to go as high as BBB to get things fixed.

That is my opinion on the matter anyway.

This second comment is more on the annoying side than anything else.

This customer was put on a call list when they cancelled their account with Legal Shield.

So that means that the customer really wasn’t entirely rid of Legal Shield’s services and was getting the annoying phone calls the second you sit down for dinner.

Ok, I get it, this isn’t such a big deal but you have 200 more complaints and 30 more negative reviews of the company to choose from just on the BBB database alone.

The Final Verdict

Look, this company has been around forever so I cannot call it a scam.

In fact, I have never seen a comment that was so bad that red flags shot into the sky.

Look, they have issues, what company doesn’t but you really need to do what is right for you.

There are a few issues with the compensation plan that are significant because it doesn’t seem like a strong plan but the services are there and the plan is as well.

I am also not crazy about paying monthly fees for legal issues because it seems like a waste of money?

Also, people with lots of legal issues seem like the only person you could sell these packages too.

The bottom line here is this…

Why not get some training and make an online business of your own?

You can do it with one of the many online training programs and to be honest, you don’t have to be a tech genius.

All I trying to get at is that you don’t have to try and sell legal services door to door to make some extra money.
