Have you ever wanted employment as a moderator of a forum or support and chat with customers and get paid for doing so? Well, now you can, there is a company called Modsquad that will allow you to do just that.
ModSquad hires freelancers from all over the world to help manage online communities.
If you would like to work from home and set your own hours, then this could be a good opportunity for you to explore.
You can work from anywhere in the world, but as you can imagine, it is essential that you have a robust, high speed Internet connection to fulfill the role.
So if you live in an area where your Internet connection drops from time to time, then this might not be a good role for you.
You do have the flexibility to work part-time, so it could be a job you could do while maintaining a full-time job or if you’re a student or stay at home mom or dad.
However, it does have some draw backs of which I’ll explore and detail more in this review.
So, just keep that in mind as you read through this review.
By the way, if you are looking for a good way to make money, then I recommend you check out the step-by-step training that helps me earn over $10,000+ per month working from home.

What is Modsquad
Starting back in 2007 as the Metaverse Mod Squad the company has gone through several transformations over the years leading to it’s current name – ModSquad.
ModSquad provides resources to help online businesses moderate forums, create blog posts, provide customer support and even manage social media accounts.
Instead of businesses having to hire full-time staff to fulfill these roles, they can simply outsource these duties to companies like ModSquad.
As you can imagine the interviewing process of hiring a resource can take a lot of time and effort for a company.
So, it only makes sense for brands to leave this part for companies like ModSquad to manage this process, while they get onto doing what they do best.
The Internet has truly made it possible for customers to interact with brands on a 24/7 basis, which means if your brand has a global customer base, then it’s imperative your brand has the customer support infrastructure to support it.
This is the service ModSquad delivers and it is here where you could potentially make money.
ModSquad has several addresses including San Francisco, Northern California, New York, Austin, Texas, London, Northern Ireland and the Philippines. There was also discussion about them hiring in Australia.
Who uses Modsquad for?
There are two types of users of ModSquad.
Obviously, the first are the companies who pay ModSquad to provide the support they need for their business.
And the second are the workers who are employed by ModSquad to provide the support for the various businesses.
How Do You Make Money With Modsquad
You are basically hired out to these companies as a support person, providing a wide range of services, of your choosing, including writing blog posts, updating social media accounts, providing customer support and being a moderator in forums.
You can choose what hours you want to work and you are given tasks to perform on behalf of ModSquad for the company.
Having said that, they do expect you to be able to work 20 hours per week.
How To Apply To Be a Mod
This is a fairly straight forward process in which you go to their website, fill out an application and submit your CV to the company.
You should get an email and contract from the company confirming your application has been received within 72 hours.
You then need to fill out the contract and pass a background check for obvious reasons.
In order to work for ModSquad you will need to have a computer and a dedicated Internet connection that is sufficiently resourced to carry out tasks for various companies.
Some companies have special requirements which may require you to upgrade your computer to fulfill the brief.
Some jobs may also need you to have a specific set of skills to be applicable for the position.
What I Liked about Modsquad
- It is always a bonus to be able to work from the comfort of your own home. ModSquad allows you to do this.
- You do have some control over what tasks you would like to do. So if you want to be a forum moderator and have the necessary skills for the role, then ModSquad would probably have a role for you.
- Being able to set your own time is also another positive aspect of this business, because it offers a little more flexibility to work in the day or night when you’re the most productive.
What I Didn’t Like about Modsquad
I have read a number of complaints from people who are, and or, have worked for ModSquad for a number of years.
I have tried to identify some of the more common complaints experienced from a wide range of members.
Here are the main 4 :
- Some of the feedback I have seen online from a number of people suggests that the pay is far too low for the skills and work you do. One user said they essentially work for $9 an hour.
- I have also read many complaints from workers who have said that ModSquad doesn’t give you enough hours. Not sure if these people wanted to work full-time or just wanted a more hours than what they were currently doing, meaning the context is not clear.
- There have also been a number of comments from members who say the training in ModSquad is terrible. Again, I don’t know the full story to put this comment into context.
- The ModSquad Interview process can take a long time as far as interviews go. I have seen people say their interview took over 4 days to complete, and other who said it took up to 4 weeks.
To be fair, I don’t know in what context each of the issues were made, only the fact that they were made, meaning, do your own research particularly in these areas before applying.
Do I Recommend Modsquad?
Given the length of time ModSquad has been in business and the number of people who have had experience working for the company good or bad, it is clear to see that ModSquad is a legitimate business.
It not only allows you to work from home, set your own working hours and have control over what you do, but you can work from anywhere in the world.
There are a number of draw backs working for ModSquad that were enough for me to speculate whether ModSquad is really worth the time and effort.
In my opinion, given all of the other opportunities available online to make money, ModSquad would NOT be on top of the list.
Having said that, if you like the idea or have experience being a moderator for online forums, and like the flexibility ModSquad gives, then ModSquad might be a good fit for you.
Otherwise, I would highly recommend checking out my favorite way to make money in this review.
