Origami Owl is a jewelry and trinket company that allows people to sign-up as re-sellers and earn commission fees on sales. It’s a company that has been around for a few years and some people say it’s an excellent business opportunity while others say it’s a scam, who can you believe?
In this Origami Owl review, we’ll take a look at the company and opportunity and see if it’s worth out time. If you are considering signing up for this company I suggest that you finish reading this article before you make a decision.
I’m writing this as an experienced product reviewer, this review is entirely opinion based, I simply want to provide you with the information that will allow you to make an educated decision, one that’s in everyone’s best interests.

What is Origami Owl?
- Name: Origami Owl
- Type: MLM Jewelry Products
- Minimum Price: $149
- Website: www.origamiowl.com
- Owner: Isabella Weems
Origami Owl is one of those success stories that you might have heard about on the news or featured in a newspaper. It all started with Isabella Weems and her idea to create bracelets and other types of custom-made jewelry that represent different ideas and stories, in other words, sentimental value.
The interesting part was that, when Isabella founded the company, she was only 14 years old, and the company expanded faster than anyone could have predicted, earning millions of dollars in revenue in the first couple of years. Since then, it has been updated, more products have been added, and a multi-level marketing system was implemented.
The idea is to provide people with the opportunity to make money selling the company’s custom-made items, and market them with stories (or other techniques). Like most multi-level marketing systems, the point is to recruit more people and expand your team and be rewarded with cash and other bonuses (flight tickets, vouchers, etc).
Just remember that it is often difficult to find network marketing leads, check out this article if you struggle with network marketing leads.
What makes this company different from other multi-level marketing companies are the products; there are many different small trinkets, bracelets, necklaces, rings, charms and other items, that one can choose to promote.
To begin working one must purchase a kit, the cheapest kit is priced at $149 USD; it’s the standard kit that provides you with a set of tools, a collection of products to promote (shipped to your doorstep), and other guides and training material.
You can then start selling the products by following the marketing advice and start earning commissions. Of course, if you want to improve your income, recruiting new re-sellers is a must.

What I Liked:
For starters, this opportunity appeals to women of all ages, and it’s probably one of the most popular multi-level marketing businesses for women, it’s easy to get into and doesn’t cost so much.
Similarly, if you are a woman, it will be easy for to sign-up other women, it’s not as difficult to collect referrals as some of the other mlm companies out there. I think the idea is definitely interesting; the idea of wearing a bracelet or other piece of jewelry to remember something or share a story. It’s a good marketing idea.
I also liked that the business kits provide some training and tools to get your started. It’s often not the ideal training for mlm businesses, but it will at least provide you with a glimpse of what it is that you need to do. Each kit, depending on the level, includes free tools and training material. These are called “Tools for Success” and include a wide range of tools, such as order forms, take out menus, postcards, flyers, and other marketing material; mostly offline marketing material.
I also like how this mlm encourages you to interact with people in person, handing out flyers, menus, order forms, etc. It forces you to get out of your comfort zone and learn the basics of in-person sales, a skill that everyone should learn because it’s a really valuable skill.
The compensation is not bad too; up to 50% commission fees.
On the other hand, there are a few things that I didn’t like about this opportunity.
What I Didn’t Like:
For starters, the customer support is not the best. It takes awhile to receive a response from a representative and even they often provide generic answers that don’t really solve your problem. I believe the company is working on improving their customer support and I will look into it later. One of the most popular complaints about this company is in regards to their lack of public information, the supervisors often don’t reveal important information in a timely fashion.
Secondly, the initial investment is a little steep, the starter pack costs $149 and that provides you with a kit of many different items, it’s up to you to choose how to sell these items. Like I mentioned, this company is based on direct sales, and if you don’t have experience with direct sales, or you live in a non-English speaking country, selling the products might be difficult.
Third, the whole “Change Your Life” and “Climb to Success” catchphrases are a bit over-used within multi-level marketing industries. I never like products that promise the entire world (as long as you sign-up now!) it pressures people into quickly signing up which makes them overlook important information. In other words, there’s a lot of hype; not as much as other companies, but there’s a lot, and most of it is based on false claims. I wouldn’t believe the hype if I was you; do the research first.
Fourth, you have to invest a lot of time, and, in my opinion, the compensation is not worth the work hours. You’re told that you have to work hard to achieve results, and that’s true, but you can achieve much better results anywhere else.
There have also been reports of people being fired for no reason, regular layoffs that leave people confused and scrambling for jobs.
To summarize, Origami Owl has it’s share of pros and cons, it’s definitely not the absolute best business opportunity out there, but if you like jewelry and direct sales, then this might be a source of income for you. Personally, I don’t recommend it.
I’m a firm believer in setting up your own business, a website that can bring in an unlimited amount of cash, all it takes is some hard work, but you’re in total control, no need to worry about lay-offs or other issues.
