Company: Casting Words
Website: www.castingwords.com
Founders: Rachel Pearson & Nathan McFarland
Welcome to my 3rd party review of Casting Words (CW).
I am really happy that you have found my review.
It means you are willing to do some research before you jump in head first or drink the koolaid.
It is so important for people to know what they are getting into, when it comes to online income opportunities.
The sad truth is, the vast majority of people skip this step in the process and then complain about it later when they realize that they made a mistake.
I do not want this to happen to people so I write 3rd party reviews, so people at least stand a chance at making an educated decision.
The second part of being a 3rd party reviewer is that I have no affiliation with the companies I discuss.
This is for the sole purpose of allowing you to get away from sales pitches and get to know the companies as they are.
There will be a lot of information in this review so I recommend that you stay for the entire thing.
I will try and keep it as short as possible but I try not to skip over information that is available.
As an added bonus I will be providing you with final verdict which will tell you whether the company is legit or not.
Keep in mind that the final decision still rests on your shoulders.
You can also check out the step-by-step training that helps me earn over $10,000+ per month working from home.

Casting Words Overview – What is the Company?
CW is a tech transcription firm headquartered in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
The two founders are Rachel Pearson and Nathan McFarland.
The company was founded in November of 2005 so that they could help online transcription workers find work.
Since the founding of the company, it has expanded and also offers transcription editor positions as well.
Two well known publications have mentioned CW in an article; The NY Times and The Economist.
There are services offered in several languages, which means they are ready to do whatever it takes to help anyone out.
Probably the best thing about CW is it is friendly to beginners.
This means they do not have very strict requirements for the application process.
More on the requirements later in the review.
Casting Words Applicant Requirements
First of all, you do not need to have any experience to apply.
This means anyone with a functional computer, hi-speed internet and a verifiable PayPal account, you can apply for a job at CW.
It is not required to have a nice headset and foot pedal but I highly recommend this because efficiency is the name of the game when it comes to transcription.
Once you are done filling out the application, you can start completing tasks.
This means the process to work at CW is a pretty quick turnaround.
SO if you are hard for cash, go ahead and apply.
What Kind of Files Will I Be Transcribing?
This is a tough question to pinpoint but most of them will be audio files that range in length.
Some files are two minute and some are 30 minutes +.
There are also difficulty ranges. For example, files marked difficult pay higher than easy files.
So if you get a long file that is labeled difficult, then you can make a decent amount of cash.
Especially if you are skilled at transcribing, but it does take some time to get good.
The Rank & Bonus System
Once you are done with a task, you are given a score for the quality of your work.
This is why it is so important to make sure that your work is top notch.
One way to get a bad grade is if you don’t follow the directions or guidelines.
In some cases, you won’t even get paid if the quality of work is lacking.
Poor work output will also hinder your rank so you can’t unlock the files that pay higher.
• If you score a 4 or lower: No Pay
• If you score a 5: Get paid normal rate
• If you score 6 or higher: Get paid 1.5 times the normal rate
How Much Does CW Pay?
As I mentioned in the sections above, there is no exact rate that you get paid.
You get paid for the number of tasks you complete and there are different pay scales.
These all depend on how good you transcribe and how fast you can complete tasks.
I have heard of some people making $1 per audio minute if you can produce quality transcriptions.
Since CW pays via PayPal, you can cash out anytime you want and have it directly linked to your bank.
This is all the information I could find about the payment process of CW.
Casting Word Likes and Dislikes
Transcription is difficult: Ladies and gentlemen.
This job is not easy. If you are a beginner, it is going to take a you few weeks to get the basics down.
Even skilled professional transcriptionists struggle with difficult audio files.
Some people can bust out these files in the matter of minutes while it might take others substantially longer.
This is why you really need to know what you are getting yourself into.
Bonuses: How can anyone say no to bonuses.
I really like that fact that if you do your job and do it well, you can get paid more.
This makes people strive for excellence and push for higher quality work.
I cannot express to you how awesome this feature is. It can be a real motivator for some applicants.
Flexible Job Schedule: There is nothing better than having a home based job that you can schedule around your day.
This job would be great for stay at home moms/dads.
You can work most hours of the day and this can mean that you can make some serious cash.
Frustrating: The job can be frustrating when you first start out.
It is important for you to realize that it will take a little while for you to get the tasks done quickly.
This is why I recommend that you worry more about quality rather than quantity.
The Better Business Bureau
Here is the deal with CW.
The company has received a No Rating (NR) but there are no clear indications available.
The problem may be the fact that there is missing information about the company and there are no customer reviews or complaints.
Look, I know there are no complaints but CW has had plenty of time to establish themselves in the BBB database and have failed to do so.
I am wondering if there are already forces at work to change the rating so that people can see what the company is all about.
The other thing I would like to mention is the fact that a lot of people have no idea what BBB is.
So that means there could be some people that have complaint but have no idea where to post them.
What you have to realize is that CW has been around since 2009 so there is now way that the company is lacking any credibility.
I am simply stating what the BBB database is showing me.
You can check it out, HERE.
The Final Verdict
This is the last section of the review and I always save the best for last.
I don’t have very many bad things to say about Casting Words.
I mean, the company is legit and there are no legal issues that I could uncover.
It’s not that I suspect them of doing anything wrong.
It’s that I am trying to be objective and treat the company properly, no matter what side of the fence you are at this point.
Look I get it, some people could sit down at a desk and pump out transcription file all day.
For others, this job would be a horrible choice. This is where you come into play.
Your only task really is to make an educated decision based on the information I provide.
Look, I get it, maybe transcription isn’t for you.
However, there are millions of different ways of making money online.
All you have to do is have the passion to make it happen.
If you have no idea where to get started then I suggest going to YouTube and watching a video that can teach you how to get started.
If you are looking for an example of a great training program, check out this review of Wealthy Affiliate.
The company has a great track record and there is no risk involved.
They even have experience entrepreneurs willing to chat with you 24/7.
These people started out just like you. I hope this review helped you in some way, shape or form.
