Dove Chocolate Discoveries Review – Pyramid Scheme or Legit?

Dove Chocolate Discoveries Reviews

Company: Dove Chocolate Discoveries
Website: www.mydcdsite.com
Leadership: Acquired by Mars, Inc. in 1986

Welcome to my Dove Chocolate Discoveries (DCD) 3rd party review!

I am really glad that you found my review because that means you are willing to do some research before taking the plunge into MLMing.

This gig is not for everyone and to be honest, very few people succeed.

I am not telling you this to scare you away. I am merely pointing out the fact that I am straight forward in my reviews because I don’t want to waste your time.

I understand that people are busy and that they need to know if DCD is going to make them money and if there are any issues that you need to be aware of.

I would like to point out that Dove is not going anywhere.

The company has been around for a long time and it is a massive corporation, well at least Mars, Inc. is.

This bodes well for the MLM side of things but selling product based on recruiting can complicate things.

In this review I will provide you with a company overview, a list of products and ways to make money.

Then I will briefly discuss the pros & cons of the company so that you know what you are getting into.

Understand that I am not here to sway your decision one way or the other.

I am here to provide you information and it is up to you to make the decision.

DCD Overview – What is the Company?

You were probably introduced to DCD by a friend or relative and you are wondering if you can trust the hype.

DCD is an MLM in the chocolate niche.

I am not sure if there is another chocolate niche MLM in existence so they may be trying to corner the market.

DCD was established in 2007 and it is HQ’d in Mt. Arlington, NJ USA.

dcd_bbb_grade

There is not that much information in regards to whom is specifically running the show besides Mars Inc.

Even the website seems to be product focused so that is a good thing because many MLMs focus on recruiting.

Here are a few comments made by customers so that you have a clearer understanding of the company.

dcd_bbb_comment_1

Although this comment is specifically about individual affiliates breaking policy, you have to understand that you run the risk of being recruited by a horrible sales rep.

Unless you know the sales rep, it is better to start looking for top sellers so you limit the risk.

I would hate for you to invest some serious cash into this venture only to get a case of bad luck.

Limit your risks with MLMs and it may just pan out for you.

With that being said, good luck!!!

dcd_bbb_positive

This comment is short and sweet.

At least you know Dove will take care of your orders quickly.

That can mean the difference between people coming back for more or buying elsewhere.

Believe it or not, a lot of MLMs get thousands of complaints about delivery issues.

DCD Product Line

SPECIALS

There are dozens of products and it seems like chocolate is not the only thing on the menu.

This is surprising a much more diverse arrange of products.

I was expecting nothing but chocolate.

Here is the Product Page of DCD in case you want to check out prices and each individual product.

I would also like to point out that it is rare for MLMs to post prices upfront like DCD does.

This is a good way of knowing they are putting an honest effort into this business venture.

DCD Compensation Plan

Ok, I could not locate an actual PDF version of the compensation plan so I can’t provide you with a link this time but I will go over the two main ways to make money.

The first thing you have to do is purchase of the DCD Starter Kits. By doing this you will become a chocolatier…

STANDARD STARTER KIT

This kit ranges between $115 and $159 but the retail value is said to be between $200 and $300.

• 2 White Chocolate Raspberry Daiquiri Mix Packets
• 1½ Pounds of Milk Chocolate
• 1 Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix
• ½ Pound of Dark Chocolate
• 1 Box Milk Chocolate-Covered Cinnamon Almonds
• 2 Chocolate Mousse Packets
• 1 Box Dark Chocolate-Covered Fruit Collection
• 1 Chocolate Martini Mix Bottle
• 6 Chai Tea Packets
• 2 Frosty White Smoothie Mix Packets
• 1 White Chocolate Meyer Lemon Baking Mix
• 1 Sweet’N’ Spicy Cocoa Rub
• 1 Sweet’N’Smoky Chocolate BBQ Sauce

MASTER CHOCOLATIER KIT

The cost is $449 and has a retail value of $800

This kit allows you to participate in the compensation plan because you meet the minimum $250 monthly purchase requirement.

You must also recruit 3 active members in order to take part in the team bonuses part of the plan.

I am not willing to label Dove as a scam just yet, but $250 a month for chocolate seems a bit overboard but I guess you can retail it if you know a lot of chocolate lovers.

PARTY HOSTING COMMISSIONS

This entire part of the plan is based on how much sales value you generate at your chocolate house parties.

Here is the breakdown.

• $200-$350: 10%
• $350-$499: 10% plus ½ price on two selected products
• $500-$749: 15% plust ½ price on three selected products
• $1000 plus: 20% plus ½ price on four selected products

This seems like a small piece of the pie for hosting a couple dozen people in your home.

I mean, you have to provide people with food and drinks and then you have a few other expenses like time invested.

I don’t think the payout is that great.

I’ve seen worse payouts but this is nothing special.

Besides, who the heck hosts home parties for selling stuff, didn’t that tactic die out with Avon 30 years ago?

Not only that, it is a little embarrassing to sell stuff to your friends and family.

It all seems a little desperate if you ask me.

Things To Be Wary Of

I have already pointed out a few things that trouble me but I will say that Dove is putting a pretty decent MLM foot forward.

WARM MARKET TRAINING

The emphasis is on warm market lead generation.

You are supposed to throw home parties and get your friends and family to join the cause.

What happens when you are done annoying your friends and family?

You are left in the dark and have no way of generating leads.

LOTS OF TIME AWAY

This is not a home based job.

You will have to spend many hours grinding out leads and this means that a 9-5 job is equal or better.

At least that way you have health insurance and get paid immediately.

It could take you a year before you start seeing any returns with an MLM because you have to build your downline.

The Final Verdict

I have not seen any problems with the products themselves.

This is pretty good evidence that DCD is not scamming anyone in that regard.

The problem I can’t get over is the fact that Dove has gone with the MLM route even though they are one of the largest chocolate companies in the world.

You see, there is very little difference between a pyramid scheme and an MLM.

According to law, the FTC says an MLM that sells greater than 50% of its products to affiliates is a pyramid.

Remember those kits I talked about, I wonder if the FTC considers them product because if that is the case, then 100% of the revenue generated via the MLM is directly to affiliates.

With that being said, I am sure there are loopholes for companies to bypass laws like that.

I wish there was more information available so we could see what percentage of DCDs sales are to affiliates.

I want to be able to say that DCD is not a pyramid with 100% confidence.

Here is where I come out on the whole thing.

Dove and Mars Inc. has been around forever so for them to start scamming people with an MLM would be a pretty bad business decision.

I would say that you are safe if you choose to join DCD. With that being said, why would you want to go through all of the trouble of trying to sell chocolate when it is abundantly available.

I mean, all gas stations and stores are selling the same thing as you.

In my opinion there are other ways for you to make money online.

One of them is to find a free or cheap training program so you can start your own business.

This way, you don’t have worry about recruiting and buying starter kits.

These training programs are everywhere and you can even find some great ones on YouTube.

If you are looking for an example, go ahead and check out this review of Wealthy Affiliate.

This program is free to try out and you get advice from amazing people that have had success starting their own business online.

I really hope that this review helped you in some manner.
