Welcome to my Crowdtap Review.
If you’ve ever been interested in receiving products to test for free and getting paid to do so, then this article is going to help you to do that.
Crowdtap is a US based company that will send you free products in return for your honest opinion on the products.
You usually have to answer a number of questions relating to the products you test and in return you earn points that you can redeem for gift cards or other rewards.
There can be a lot of questions to answer for each product, but I can imagine that it could be a fun thing to do in your spare time.
Obviously, providing them with the correct details of your home address is not only important, but mandatory, because they will be sending the free product samples directly to your home address.
Like most companies that want customer feedback on their products, they would send products that align more closely with their target audience.
So, a stay at home mom that has young children, might be a better product tester for household cleaning products, than a person who doesn’t do much cleaning around the home at all.
This data is very valuable to companies as it helps to not only better their current products, but also helps to potentially identify gaps in the marketplace to create new products.
Getting products delivered to your door to test – for FREE – sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?
And well, that just might be the case – in around about way.
I’ll explain what I mean soon, but first, I just wanted to point out, upfront, that Crowdtap is NOT a good way to earn money.
In fact, you can’t actually earn money, instead you earn points, that you can exchange for gift cards.
Some people are cool with that, but I just wanted to point that out before you go any further with this review.
Ultimately, Crowdtap, is really, just a fun way for you to spend your free time to get gift cards and potentially test free products.

What is Crowdtap
Crowdtap is an intermediary, that helps to get feedback from current or potential customers of leading brand manufacturers.
The websites domain name was registered back in in September 2007, so they have been around for over a decade now.
They are a company that helps bring the opinions or insight of customers back to product owners.
As mentioned earlier, this information is extremely valuable to companies as it helps them to create better and new products based on customer feedback.
The Internet has enabled companies like Crowdtap to “tap” into a large group of people, and even larger demographic of current and potential customers, and get feedback directly from them.
Unfortunately, this opportunity is only available to people who reside in the United States.

Who uses Crowdtap?
The main users of Crowdtap are people who want to get Amazon gift cards and free products in exchange for their opinion.
You can liken Crowdtap to an online survey company, in that you have to answer a lot of questions in a similar format to a survey website, but with the addition of qualifying to receive free product samples.
Unlike a lot survey type of companies, you can have multiple accounts per household without a problem, but your answers just need to be your own unique opinion and not based on someone else in your household.
How Does Crowdtap Work?
1. Sign Up
The first step is to sign up with Crowdtap.
There are two ways to sign up :
- You can sign up with Facebook
- You can sign up with your email address and create a password.
But, it’s best to signup with a Facebook account because you will still need to verify your account with a Facebook account even if you used option 2 to sign up.
Once you’ve sign up and filled out your profile, it is vital that you enter your correct home address, since the free products are going to be sent to this address.
2. How Do You Earn Points
You do this by completing missions.
This is a term coined by Crowdtap, so nope – not me … I would have thought of cooler name for it I’m sure.
Missions can range anywhere from answering a quick survey to testing out a new product and sharing your opinion on it.
- Polls – where you complete easy to answer questions.
- Photo Missions – where the company asks you to take photos of their product.
- Text Missions – These are short questions.
- Content Missions – You provide the company with your opinion on either a blog post, video or photo. The company will send you the URL.
- Discussion – This involves a panel of interactive questions.
- Questionnaire Missions – Basically a survey.
- Sampling/Hosted Party – This is where companies send you free products in exchange for your feedback.
You have complete control over the brands you want to work with and every brand you chose will give you the options available to you.
All missions get you points, however, you need to be selected by the company to participate in the mission that offers free product samples. Kinda sucks – I know, but it is what it is.
Are there things you can do to help you qualify for more free samples?
Well, I have read that you can influence a companies decision by providing more descriptive answers and high quality photos to some of the missions you complete and ensuring you have provided all your relevant information in your profile.
How Much Can You Earn With Crowdtap?
Your aim is to earn as many points as you can by completing missions, and once you earn enough points, exchanging it for Amazon gift cards.
Once you earn 1000 points you can exchange them for a $5 Amazon gift card.
To earn 1000 points you have the option of completing various missions. Some missions yield more points that others.
Every brand you work with is different in terms of what value they set for a mission.
How much you earn varies from person to person, but searching the Internet and reading some comments on Reddit, it appears that some people have suggested they can get an Amazon gift card with only 500 points.
Others say, that they can usually complete enough missions to receive a $5 gift card every week and that they also get free product samples.
Yet another says, they can earn anywhere from $10 to $15 per month.
So it’s really a mixed bag.
I guess it just depends on your profile details, what brands you work with, how many missions you complete and how detailed your opinions are.
What I Liked about Crowdtap
- You get Amazon gift cards for completing missions. I know it’s not money, but gift cards are useful too.
- You can also get free product samples from some leading brands.
- You get to chose what brand you want to work with. Work with some of your favorite brands
What I Didn’t Like about Crowdtap
- You have no way of controlling if you qualify for a free sample. So if you want to join Crowdtap just to get free samples, then you might be disappointed if you’re not selected.
- You have to sign up with Facebook even if you signed up with an username and email.
- It can take a lot of time and effort to earn 1000 points. And if your intention is to earn money, then your time would be much better spent on other business opportunities.
Do I Recommend Crowdtap?
So the thought of being able to get free products delivered to your door to try and provide feedback, on the surface sounds like a good idea, but since that decision is controlled by the brands, you may NOT qualify to get free products at all.
This is not all bad news though, because regardless of whether you qualify for free products, you can still earn points by completing various missions and in return you get rewards.
I do like the fact that you get to choose which brands you want, and just think, your feedback may influence how they improve, or create new products. So that’s kinda cool.
Is Crowdtap legit?
Yes, it definitely a legit business. But is it a good way to earn money? I would have to say no, because the points you earn compared to the time you invest in completing each point is not worth the reward, in my opinion.
I would say that it could be a fun way to get rewards if you have spare time, and as a bonus receive a free sample every now and again, but not a good way for you to invest your time, if your goal is to earn money.
You would be better off investing your time into something that you can ultimately grow into a four, five or even six figure business.
