Editfast Review – Legit or a Scam?

Welcome to my 3rd party review of Editfast (EF)!

I am really happy you made it to my review of Editfast. It is really important to do research before you try out an online business, and some people skip it.

If you are interested in working from home and you have superb editing skills, you might be able to work for EF. Since I am a 3rd party reviewer, you don’t have to sit through another puff article praising a company.

I provide you with all of the good and bad aspects of a company so you get to make an informed decision. For example, Editfast has a lot of requirements and you have no guarantee that you will get work on a consistent basis.

I am writing this article because I noticed a lot of people on forums are talking about it. Many people wanted to know how legit the company is and what the job requirements are.

This review will answer these questions and provide other information that will help you make an informed decision. I will start out the review by saying, Editfast is not a scam.

With that being said, there are strict requirements that make it difficult for many freelancers to find a home at EF.

Anyway, let’s get the show on the road.

You can also check out the step-by-step training that helps me earn over $10,000+ per month working from home.

Editfast Job Requirements

Every company I review has job requirements.

EF is by far one of the strictest companies I have come across.

Most of the time all you need is a functioning computer with a working headset and hi-speed internet.

This is not the case with EF.

Here is a list of requirements directly from their website.

• A college degree
• A wide variety of reading interests
• A computer with an Internet connection
• The usual Microsoft word processing software
• Past editing/proofreading experience
• Computer/Internet researching

The qualifications do not end there because there is another list that is optional and listed in a “Useful Qualifications” section.

• Editing experience in a professional atmosphere
• Courses in proofreading and editing
• An English degree
• Experience editing non-native English speakers work
• Knowledge in many popular specialized fields

Right away EF has hit a snag. I understand that they want to run a top notch editing company but the qualifications are very strict.

I am wondering how many people get hired if they expect to get these kinds of skilled workers to apply.

EF better pay exceptionally well if all they do is hire people with these qualifications.

That is the thing though. They don’t even talk much about the pay scale.

This is not the end of the world but it seems like they are expecting a lot out of their applicants.

How to Apply at Editfast

If you meet most or all of the job requirements listed in the previous section, you can apply on their website.

You have to complete the following 4 steps in order to be considered:

1. Resume Builder
2. Pass Editing Exams
3. Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement
4. Web Page Builder

Once all of those steps are completed, you have to wait up to a few weeks before you hear any feedback from EF.

If you are hired, you will have your EF Webpage activated and you could potentially start “New Project Notifications.”

However, if you are not hired, all of your information will be eliminated and you will receive an email stating so.

Here is the deal.

This process is not out of the ordinary for most editing companies.

You have to know what you are doing and you have to go through a similar process no matter where you apply.

If these processes seem unreasonable, then you probably should think about another online business opportunity.

How Does EF Work?

Let’s pretend for a second that you have already been accepted at EF.

Now, you have to advertise your skills via your personalized webpage.

There are a few ways you can get work as a freelance editor.

The first way is to have EF send you a notification with a job attached to it.

You have to understand that some clients want EF to handle the entire process.

This means EF will give it to an editor that best fits the job description.

However, there is no requirement for EF in regards to sending you jobs.

This means that you may never receive work directly from EF.

The best way to have work sent to you is after you have completed a few jobs and you have great feedback from the clients.

The second way of finding work is if a client has found your EF website and requests work.

Regardless of how you find work, all of the jobs will require you and the client to have a fee and deadline worked out before accepting it.

Then you complete the task, submit it though EF and then get it approved before you can get paid.

It seems like a long process but it is much simpler than some companies.

How Much Does Editfast Pay?

There is no easy way of answering this question.

As I previously stated, each client agrees on a price so it depends on whom you are working for and what they are willing to pay.

Here is where EF gets a little crazy in my opinion.

No matter what the price is, EF takes a staggering 40% of the cut.

This is by far the highest percentage I have seen.

No company even comes close to that project cut.

However, EF pays you every month via PayPal so if you decide to work for EF, you should have an active account.

I would like to reiterate the fact that I think EF’s 40% cut of each project is way too high.

If I worked for EF, I would have to compensate for the project price cut by charging the client more.

Editfast Restrictions

There are a few restrictions that we must discuss before going any further.

Any violations could end in termination.

The first restriction is pretty self explanatory.

EF does not want you to contact the client unless it is through their EF Message Center.

I can understand this policy and have come to the conclusion that it is because they don’t want clients to hire freelancers privately.

If this wasn’t a restriction, EF could potentially lose jobs.

The second restriction is that you can never include personal information in any of the messages you send your clients.

Here is a list of information you must never include in message:

• Email address
• Telephone number
• Last name
• Mailing address
• Other personal info

Once again, I get their reasoning and these requests are reasonable.

If you are caught violating any of the rules and regulations, you will no longer have access to new jobs posted on your site.

You will also have your profile completely wiped from the EF system.

This may seem a little harsh but I am sure they do not fire people without providing evidence first.

All you have to do is follow those two easy rules and you don’t have to worry about this section.

The Final Verdict

There is absolutely no way that EF is a scam.

The company has been around for a while and I was unable to find any negative forums about Editfast.

This means that they are doing something right even though they have ridiculous job requirements and a high project price cut.

Those are the only two things that I can come up with and all else seems to be right as rain.

With that being said, I will leave the final decision up to you.

If it was up to me, I would try to find a better job opportunity because there are so many out there.

If you are like me and Editfast is not something you are interested in, you should think about starting your own online business.

There are amazing tutorials if you have no idea how to get started.

You can find thousands of them on YouTube or you can check out this review of Wealthy Affiliate if you want an example.

The program is free and can upgrade after you try it out.

Wealthy Affiliate has a great track record and there is no risk involved.

The best part about the company is that you get to talk to successful entrepreneurs that started out just like you.

This can make the process a lot less stressful and put you a step ahead of the curve.

Any advantage that you can get is welcomed.

I hope this review helped you out with your search for financial success.

  1. Hi

I have been grading EIKEN exam papers through EditFast for a couple of years. This last year, however, I have struggled so much to get paid by them that it’s not worth the effort anymore. I’m still waiting to be paid for the marking I did at the end of January 2021.

They do not respond to emails. Their whole setup is very unprofessional. Will keep you updated.
