Earny App Review: Legit Or A Scam?

A lot of people like to buy items when the prices are discounted in order to save some money. However, just when you think an item is at its lowest price and you have made the purchase you suddenly see another price drop just the following day or week.

This is frustrating because you could have saved more money if you had waited a little longer.

Fortunately, a lot of stores have a price protection policy that allows you to claim the difference between the price you paid for it and the drop in price.

Of course, it will take some time and effort on your part if you want to make a claim, which tends to be very off putting.

This is where the Earny app comes in. It allows you to get automatic refunds on price drops of the purchases that you have made.

You just need to download the app link a credit card and provide access to your email and they will do the rest.

But is the Earny app really a legit opportunity to automatically get refunds? Are they even safe or are they just a scam?

Earny App is a Legit Opportunity To Automatically Get Refunds from Price Adjustments

Earny is an app that allows you to automatically get a refund from the price adjustment of an item that you recently purchased.

They’re basically the ones that contact the store or credit card company about the change in price and make the claim on your behalf. They’ll just take a percentage from the refund as their fee.

One thing to note, though, is that they’ll need access to your email so they can use your email address to send a message to the store or to the credit card company.

From what I’ve seen so far, I can say that the Earny app is a legit opportunity. The app does the work for you when it comes to making the request for the refund.

They do all the work by looking for price adjustment then contacting the store or credit card company about it. Then you get your money, minus the fee that they charge.

They were also featured by several news websites so you know they’re well-known. Of course, there are still some issues with this site.

One is an issue with safety and privacy. There are also some complaints that Earny misses some refund requests. I‘ll discuss these issues in more detail as we progress in this review of the Earny app.

Who Uses Earny App?

Earny app is designed for people who do a lot of shopping and are affected by sudden price changes that companies and businesses implement.

The app allows you to get refunds on these price drops and you won’t need to do any of the work.

All you need to do is to provide Earny with access to your email and they’ll be the ones to look for transactions where you can get a refund.

The app will just take a percentage of your refund as a fee for doing all the work for you. It’s easy to avail of their service, as you just need to download the app and register.

I’ll discuss the sign-up process in more detail in the next section. I’ll also discuss how the app’s process works.

How Does the Earny App Work?

Earny is an app that allows people to get a refund if the item they purchased suddenly drops in price. The app will be the one to do all the work and you just need to give them access to your email.

Signing up is free, but the app will take a percentage from your refund as a fee for doing all the work for you.

So to begin, you need to download the app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then, register your email address and link a credit card.

It’s important that the email you link is the one that receives your shopping receipts. It’s also important to link only the credit card that offers price protection policy and the one you use frequently for shopping.

You can also choose to sign up via their website. You just need to provide access to the email that receives your transaction receipts.

When you provide access, you are allowing them to send, read, and erase messages on your email. Once the registration process is done, the app will automatically scan your email for new receipts.

They’ll check your new purchases and monitor the stores with a price protection policy. Once they see a price drop, they’ll make a price adjustment claim on your behalf.

They’ll use your email to communicate back and forth to the store or to the credit card company. If the claim is successful, Earny will take 25% from your refund amount as a fee for their services.

The good thing about their service is that they will do all of this in the background and you don’t need to do anything else. The app will do this automatically and they’ll just bill you once they’re successful.

Of course, not all of your transactions will be eligible for a refund since the app only provides this service if the transaction is made in certain online stores.

These stores are Athleta, Amazon, Banana Republic, Carter’s, Crew, Costco, Gap, KOHL’s Jet, Macy’s, Newegg, Nike, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Sears, Staples, Target, Walmart, and Zappos.

Any other transactions made from other stores will not be included.  You’ll get a notification from the app or an email that they are successful in obtaining a refund.

Refunds are returned back to the card you used for your transaction. The 25% fee that the app requires will be taken from the credit card you linked to the app or via any other payment method you have chosen.

If the refund comes from a credit card company like VISA, the refund will be mailed to your home in the form of a check.

The app also has a referral program to help you make some extra money. You get to earn 5% of your referral’s refunds. You will also get 5% of the refunds of your referral’s referral. So the app allows you to earn until the second level referral.

What People Are Saying about the Earny App?

People are generally happy with the Earny app, considering it has a high rating in both Google and the Apple App store.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that there’s no issue with the app, as there are several of them. And the issue starts with security and privacy.

Though the app assures that they value people’s security and privacy, it’s still not enough to convince some people.

The fact that you are allowing the app to read, send and erase messages on your email, can be cause for some concern. Though Earny will not do this, they could still be a target for hacking, thus compromising your email address.

Another common issue I saw with the app is that they won’t be able to monitor all of your transactions. I’ve seen a lot of complaints from people that they are not getting refunds on some transactions, even with a price drop.

The app does try its best to monitor all transaction and file for a claim but there will be times where they may miss some transactions.

What I Like about the Earny App

Now that we know what the Earny app is and what they offer, it’s time to discuss what I like about the opportunity.

  • The first thing that I like about the Earny app is that they do all the work for you. You won’t need to do anything other than monitor the refunds coming in. You just need to provide them with access to your email and they will do all the work for you.
  • I also like that the Earny app has a referral program. This means that you will not only get cash back, but you can also make some money getting people to sign up. The program is good since you get to earn 5% of your referral’s refunds. You also get to earn 5% of the refunds of your referrals’ referrals, allowing you to earn more.

What I Dislike about the Earny App

Of course, there are also things about the Earny app that I don’t really like.

  • The only thing that I don’t like about the Earny app is the fact that they will require complete access to your email address, allowing them to read, send mail, or erase messages. Though the app assures people that they value their member’s privacy, not everyone will be comfortable allowing other people to gain access to their personal email.

Do I Recommend the Earny App?

After learning more about the Earny app and what they are offering, I can say that this is an opportunity worth trying out, especially if you are okay with giving them full access to your email.

I believe the app provides a good opportunity for you to earn cash back from your purchases through price adjustment claims. And the best part about this is that you really don’t need to do anything. Earny will do all the work for you and they’ll just take 25% of your refund as a fee.

So you’re not spending any money on the app and you don’t need to pay them anything until they are successful with the claim.

You just have to contend with the fact that they will gain access to your email in order to contact the stores on your behalf. If you’re not comfortable with that, then this app is not really for you. But if you have no problem with it, then Earny could be a good opportunity for you to get some cash back, and also earn some extra money through their referral program.
