Company: Powur
Website: https://powur.com/
Founder: Jonathan Budd
Welcome to my 3rd party review of Powur!
There are going to be a lot of moving parts with this review.
Not only do we have to find out what Powur is all about, there are a few other sections needed to explain what Powur is currently doing.
For example, there are connections to Solar City and Elon Musk, so we need to address them so you know what to expect.
These are all things you need to consider when making the decision on whether or not to invest your time and money.
Look, I get it; most people see MLM and run for the hills.
Believe it or not, some MLM can make you money, but you have to have a particular set of sales skills in order to have a chance at success.
Before we get too deep into the review, I would like to point out that I am a 3rd party reviewer.
This means I have ZERO affiliation with the company itself, so you don’t have to sit through an annoying and drawn out sales pitch.
I call a spade a spade so that your valuable time is not wasted.
In this review, we will start out with a complete overview of the company.
This includes identifying leadership, business transactions, current news or business updates.
It goes without saying that leadership is the most important aspect a company.
Next, I will introduce the products and/or services Powur provides.
Once again, this is a very important part of the company because without a marketable product or service, you are bound to failure.
I will go over the compensation plan and provide you with a PDF version so you can familiarize yourself with it.
I will then point out any red flags that you need to be wary of.
All of the information provided will culminate in my final verdict of the company.
I never make recommendations unless the company is so pitiful that a scam warning is needed.
You are the one making the final decision based on the information provided.

Powur Overview – What is the Company?
The first thing to do is introduce everyone to the leadership of Powur.
According to the Powur Website, the leadership is as follows:
Jonathan Budd: Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Jim Bunch: President
Bobby Smith: VP of Sales
Paul Walker: Chief Technology Officer
Rick Hou: Chief Product Officer
Andrea Budd: VP of Operations
Tyler Jensen: Interim Chief Financial Officer
Vanessa Duplessie: VP of Field Ops
The image below will provide you with a little bit more information on the top tier of leadership in case you want to see some of their accomplishments.
After reading several other reviews, it looks like the website has gone over a major overhaul because there is plenty of information about the company.
Reviews done a year ago all state that the website was lacking in almost every aspect.
This is not the case anymore and there is plenty of information out in the open.
More on that later on. Ok, let’s get back to what Powur is.
It is a company that distributes solar panels with a MLM attached to it.
This is interesting because I have done a few similar MLMs but this one seems to be slightly different in regards to its focus on product.
The company is in direct connection with SolarCity, which is in charge of installing the solar panels throughout the USA.
Before I get into what SolarCity is all about and what Elon Musk has to do with the entire thing, a few things need to be addressed.
Jonathan Budd was the co-founder of Rippln, which failed miserably in 2014.
Later that same year, Budd launched MyStand but it didn’t go anywhere because the website is no longer being promoted.
In fact, the site isn’t even functional.
I am in no way implying that Powur is destined to fail but you do have the right to know about Budd’s past success, and in this case, failures.
CONNECTION WITH POWERCITY AND ELON MUSK
Let’s talk briefly about PowerCity’s credentials in the solar market.
Last summer there was an announcement that a massive factory in upstate New York will be built.
This means it will be the largest in the entire Western hemisphere which will rival China in regards to cheap production and lower costs to its customers.
Another great sign is that SolarCity is the largest solar panel installer in the US and have cornered the market.
They provide over 1/3 of all installations in the US and the Chairman of SolarCity is Elon Musk.
At this point, Musk is a household name and is one of the co-founder PayPal, CEO of SpaceX and most importantly, CEO of Tesla.
This is something that cannot be overlooked because I promised to “call a spade a spade.”
Although I would never invest in an MLM, I can now see why this company is gaining tractions.
Anything affiliated with Elon Musk is something to at least consider investing in because he is tackling some of the planet’s biggest issues with his inventions.
In August of 2015, Musk doubled down on his investment in SolarCity by buying more shares.
Here is the bad news, or at least practical vantage point.
This does not translate to success for Powur because Musk would create his own line of solar panels, meaning Powur would simply be pushed aside by one of the solar giants.
It would really just become an MLM that cannot compete with the solar elites.
Of course this is just speculation but I am almost certain Musk will not want anything to do with an MLM considering there is such a horrible reputation associated with them.
Here are a few articles that help shape my assessment and they are both interesting reads.
WHY ELON MUST IS BETTING ON SOLAR POWER INSTEAD OF WIND
ELON MUSK SAYS TESLA WILL LIKELY SELL POWER GRID SERVICES
Ok, enough about the this, let’s get into the products.
Powur Products
Ok, so this one is a bit complex since Powur is simply the MLM side of SolarCity.
This means that there are no products that Powur provides and everything is handled by SolarCity once you refer someone.
Once the installation is complete, you get paid via the Powur Compensation plan.
All you have to do is recruit people and refer them to Powur and boom, you get residual income in return.
Here is what the Powur website has to say on the matter.
Since there is little to report on in this section, let’s just jump straight into the compensation plan.
Powur Compensation Plan
First thing, first. Here is the link to the Powur Comp Plan PDF.
I strongly encourage you to read through it so you can get familiar with the plan.
If you are considering this Powur, you need to know all the ins and outs.
WAYS TO GET PAID
Fast Start Bonus: Get $75 if you refer 3 qualified leads within 60 days
Solar Installation Bonus: Receive a one-time $200 bonus for each successful lead
20 Year Solar Residual Bonuses
Lead Acquisition Bonus
Team Lead Acquisition Bonus
Team Performance Bonus
As you can see, all of the earnings are based on recruiting people to go solar.
I am not sure of their finances but there are legal ramifications if you generate more revenue via recruitment rather than selling products.
I am not sure how this type of company falls into the legal side of things but I am sure it will all come out in the wash eventually.
Take a look at the image below.
Powur is providing you with an example of how the compensation plan works and gives you potential earnings is you are the greatest recruiter in the world.
If you were to continue on the same recruitment tier system, you would eventually run into a major problem…
Generation 7 – 78125
Generation 8 – 390625
Generation 9 – 1953125
Generation 10 – 9765625
Generation 11 – 48828125
Generation 12 – 244140625
Generation 13 – 1220703125
Generation 14 – 6103515625
Generation 15 – 30517578125
That’s right, you will far exceed the population of Earth on the 15th generation of their plan.
Not to mention that SolarCity is barely international because it only has operations in Mexico and the US.
This means that you will have to set a world record for the number of referrals you make or you will come to the realization that the figures provided by Powur are nothing more than fantasy.
There is no way you will ever come close to those figures no matter how much confidence you have in your recruitment skills.
The only thing they have going for them is the $200 successful lead payout which could be great if you want to make a few extra whenever you find someone willing to take part in a solar power MLM.
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Powur does not have a BBB page but here is the link to the SolarCity BBB Page.
As you can see SolarCity has the highest grade possible but I have no idea how because they have 530 complaints registered with BBB, which is 5 times higher than any other company I have ever seen.
In fact, I am curious as to what the major issues are.
Let’s take a quick look.
This first comment is addresses something I have been wondering throughout my research.
In some of the other comments, it was required that homeowners need to replace their roofing before the panels were installed.
This process is very expensive and costs families thousands of dollars.
Then to have Solar City installers ruin a brand new roof? Ya, no thanks.
This seems like a serious issue and I’m not sure why there are so many complaints after Musk took over.
It seems like this might be a bad investment for him because these issues seem to be overwhelming.
If he is not careful, SolarCity will not have a leg to stand on in regards to reputation.
The Final Verdict
Ok, I have pointed out some good and bad things about the company.
I try to stay neutral but after reading a few dozen reviews from the BBB page, I am thinking that the company is a waste of time.
530 complaints is an abnormally large number of angry customers and cannot be overlooked.
I leave the final decision to you but I would like to point out that there are so many other ways to make money online than MLMs.
Have you ever thought about making your own online business?
That way you never have to worry about recruitment and you can focus on something that you are passionate about.
If you don’t know how to get started, check out one of the free training programs from YouTube.
There are thousands of them and they are pretty decent.
If you are looking for an example, check out this review of Wealthy Affiliate.
The program is free to try out and you get some amazing advice from people that started out just like you.
I hope this review helped you out in some way.

Thanks! This was very interesting. I glad I found this page.
Oh no! i already paid the 499 startup fee… i hope something gets fixed… like a lot of somethings, from what you said… if something is fixed every week, perhaps this will be a good investment 😮
I liked your unbiased report. I think, however, it’s time to update it. Powur has a completely different pay structure now (as of 3/2018 see website) and I’m told they no longer have any affiliation with Solar City.
